Day Habilitation Aide

The Day Habilitation Aide assists in promoting the growth and development of individuals with developmental disabilities by providing direct support and implementing developmental activities. This role focuses on enhancing sensory-motor, communication, social, independent living, affective, and behavioral skills through a team-based, multi-disciplinary approach, while ensuring the safety and well-being of all participants.

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8 am - 3:30 pm

Location: New Bedford, MA

Key Responsibilities:

  • Client Support & Development: Implement individual and group activities, support daily living skills and independence, assist with transportation and transfers, and follow ISP, behavior, and PBS strategies.
  • Data & Documentation: Collect and document data on activities, progress, and behaviors; communicate observations and support clinical documentation.
  • Safety & Environment: Maintain a safe, clean, and organized environment; identify hazards and follow emergency and agency safety protocols.
  • Team Collaboration: Participate in staff meetings and supervision and communicate effectively with team members regarding participant needs and progress.
  • Community & Other Duties: Help individuals access community resources, maintain confidentiality, and perform other duties as assigned while supporting participant safety and development.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior experience supporting individuals with developmental or intellectual disabilities or in a similar human services role.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive, respectful relationships.
  • Ability to follow individualized plans and provide person-centered support.
  • Ability to complete and maintain CPR/FA and SafetyCare certifications.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree in human services or related field.
  • Experience in implementing behavior management programs.
  • Additional coursework or training related to developmental disabilities, special education, or behavioral interventions.
