Department
DH GYN CLINIC PAV BJob SummaryThe OB GYN NP or PA-C works in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team to provide specialty gynecologic care to individuals from adolescence through menopause including the provision of gynecologic and family planning services, urogynecology, pelvic health, and gender affirming care. Supervises and teaches students and residents in the clinical setting. May perform administrative support functions as required.
Essential Functions:
- Evaluates and monitors health condition of patient in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, according to standards of care and current clinical practice guidelines. (25%)
- Assesses the health status of patients by performance of medical record review, throrough health history, and physical examination. (10%)
- Orders and interprets diagnostic tests and provides patient care accordingly (10%)
- Performs gynecologic care within scope of expertise including but not limited to provision of long-acting reversible contraceptives, pregnancy options counseling, endometrial and vulvar biopsy, urodynamics studies, and pessary placement. (20%)
- Prescribes medications including controlled substances, contraceptives, and hormone therapy (10%)
- Completes required clinical documentation in an accurate, thorough, and timely manner (10%)
- Supports patient autonomy in decision making through education about health condition and treatment options (10%)
- Teaches and guides midwifery, nurse-practitioner, and medical students, and residents in the clinical setting (5%)
Education:
- Master's Degree Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program Required
Work Experience:
- 1-3 years As a Nurse Practitioner or PA-C providing outpatient gynecology services Required
Licenses:
- WHNP-Women's Health Nurse Practitioner - NCC - National Certification Corporation Required and
- NP-Nurse Practitioner - DORA - Department of Regulatory Agencies Required or
- NPRXN-Nurse Practitioner Prescriber - DORA - Department of Regulatory Agencies Required and
- PAC-Certified Physician Assistant - NCCPA - National Commission for Certifying Agencies Required and
- PA-Physician Assistant - State Medical Board Required and
- BLS-Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) - AHA - American Heart Association Required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Management of routine and complex gynecologic conditions
- Endometrial and vulvar biopsy, urodynamics studies, and pessary placement
- Family planning advice, early pregnancy options counseling, and the provision of contraception including long-acting reversible contraceptives
- Empathic communication and trauma informed care
- Computer skills required including fluency in use of Electronic Health Records
