Go-to-Market Strategy & Operations (Japan)

About Daptic

Daptic is building the future of regulatory intelligence, with the mission to empower global manufacturers to navigate complex regulations seamlessly and accelerate the global launch of physical products.

With government regulations and standards becoming increasingly complex, product delays and innovation roadblocks are more common than ever. Daptic automates the identification and analysis of relevant regulations, standards, and product requirements, allowing R&D teams to focus on what they do best: creating groundbreaking products within automotive, aerospace, construction, medicine and healthcare, and beyond.

Currently, with a small focused team, we’re proud to be supporting the development of products used by over 100 million people worldwide.

We’ve secured over $22M in total funding from Canvas Ventures, IA Ventures, 8VC, and other institutional investors who believe in our vision to revolutionize product development.

The Role

As a member of the Go-to-Market Strategy & Operations team at Daptic, you’ll own our direction in Japan: how we grow with our existing Japanese customers, how we win new ones, and how we shape the product to serve them. You will be the person our go-to-market, product, and leadership teams rely on to understand how Japanese manufacturers work and what they need from us.

You’ll build a deep understanding of how Japanese manufacturers evaluate, buy, and deploy a product like ours, and turn that into how we run trials, how we deploy and expand, how we position and price, and where we focus our growth efforts next. You’ll use customer research and data to shape strategy, inform product direction, and craft the materials that move enterprise deals forward, in Japanese and English. You’ll work closely with our Japan-based team, who are on the ground with customers, and with the go-to-market, product, and leadership teams in New York.

We’re looking for an exceptionally talented generalist: a strategic thinker who can zoom out to set direction for a market and dive into the details to make it happen with customers.

Japan at Daptic

Japan is one of our most important markets. We already work with some of the largest manufacturers in the country on meaningful, growing contracts, and the pipeline of new Japanese customers is expanding quickly. Japanese manufacturers face some of the most demanding regulatory environments in the world, across every market they export to, and they are among the most rigorous users of our product.

Core Responsibilities
  1. Own Customer and Trial Strategy

    • Set the strategy for how we work with our enterprise customers, from proof of concept through annual deployment and expansion: what success looks like at each stage, how we get there, and where we invest.

    • Design how we run trials and proofs of concept: how we scope them, what we measure, how we staff our team across Japan and New York, and how we present results so a trial converts into an annual contract.

    • Build a deep understanding of how our customers’ regulatory, product-development, and procurement teams work, and turn that into how Daptic fits their workflows and how we deploy and position the product.

    • Translate what we learn from customers into clear direction for our product and go-to-market teams.

    • Develop presentations, proposals, and workshops that support enterprise engagement and conversion.

  2. Set Direction for the Japanese Market

    • Shape how we sell, position, and price, adapting our enterprise sales motion to how Japanese manufacturers evaluate and buy.

    • Build detailed customer and ICP profiles, synthesizing the explicit and implicit needs of the country’s largest manufacturers into a repeatable approach for new accounts.

    • Develop the presentations, proposals, and workshops that move enterprise deals forward, in Japanese and English.

    • Work with our Japan-based team on pipeline strategy and account planning for new logos.

  3. Inform Product Strategy

    • Shape product direction and development priorities through customer research, market analysis, and first-principles thinking.

    • Decide how we package, price, and take new products to market, and how we expand across industries from mobility and robotics to industrials, consumer electronics, med-tech, and retail.

  4. Build Scalable Business Processes

    • Identify operational gaps and build the processes, documentation, and tooling that keep go-to-market, customer success, and product work repeatable and efficient as the business grows.

    • Refine those systems continuously based on feedback from the team and customers.

What We’re Looking For

Requirements

  • 2-5+ years of experience in consulting, high-growth B2B startups, or strategy roles, with a strong blend of analytical, strategic, customer-facing, and cross-functional expertise.

  • Demonstrated technical acumen and the ability to grasp our highly technical product, whether through a technical education or extensive experience with complex data or computer programming.

  • Business-level fluency in Japanese and English, written and spoken, including the ability to run customer meetings and write customer-facing materials in both.

  • Experience working directly with large Japanese enterprises, ideally manufacturers, and a strong understanding of how they evaluate, buy, and deploy new tools.

  • Experience building with AI tools, with AI already part of how you work day to day.

  • Based in New York. Ad-hoc travel to Japan if needed.

What We Value

  • You bring structure to unstructured problems. Given an open-ended question with no obvious frame, you build one and work from it.

  • Comfort operating across two cultures and two time zones, and translating not just language but expectations, working styles, and priorities in both directions.

  • Strong attention to detail and a “110% mindset” in all tasks.

  • Ability to synthesize complex information into clear, actionable insights.

  • Exceptional communication skills, written, verbal, and visual, for both internal and customer-facing audiences.

  • Comfort talking to customers and prospects. Customer research and time in the market is expected of all employees.

  • A proven ability to ramp fast on unfamiliar material. We sell to experts across topics like safety, emissions, cyber, data privacy, and restricted substances, and across many industries.

  • Comfort managing multiple projects simultaneously, with an ability to quickly switch contexts.

  • Experience thriving in unstructured environments, demonstrating adaptability and initiative.

  • Proven track record of meeting and exceeding goals in a fast-paced, technical environment, such as early promotions or top-of-cohort ratings.

Skills Required

  • 2-5+ years of experience in consulting, high-growth B2B startups, or strategy roles
  • Strong analytical, strategic, customer-facing, and cross-functional expertise
  • Technical acumen and ability to understand highly technical products through technical education or complex data/computer programming experience
  • Business-level fluency in Japanese and English, written and spoken
  • Experience working directly with large Japanese enterprises, ideally manufacturers
  • Strong understanding of how Japanese enterprises evaluate, buy, and deploy new tools
  • Experience building with AI tools and using AI in daily work
  • Based in New York
