Job DescriptionAt Wise, we're on a mission to build the best way to move and manage money internationally. We're making financial services more fair, accessible, and affordable for people and businesses worldwide. As Wise continues to deepen our presence in Japan, we’re looking for our first Japan based Growth Marketer to join us at our Tokyo office. This role is pivotal in driving our growth strategy, managing multi-channel campaigns, and fostering partnerships to increase our transaction volume in the Japanese market.
As a Growth Marketing Specialist at Wise, you will:
Drive growth initiatives in line with country marketing strategy, optimising towards significant market penetration and user acquisition.
Organize and execute multi-channel marketing campaigns, coordinating closely with internal teams and external partners to maximize reach and impact.
Support product launches in the region, tailoring strategies to meet local needs and preferences.
Collaborate marketing channels to identify new channels to test and scale successful tactics, in relation to partners and campaigns.
Collaborate with local partners, including travel agencies, platforms, and expat groups, to explore innovative avenues for transaction volume growth.
Work closely with the Organic Social, Affiliate, Influencer marketing teams to drive a strong online presence, and increase our brand presence in the market.
Work closely with the analytics team to monitor campaign performance, generate insights, and produce comprehensive reports to guide future strategies.
You'll be a great fit for the role if:
Working rights: Hold Japanese citizenship, Permanent Residency or Child/Spouse of Japanese Citizen Visa
Language Ability: Strong proficiency in spoken and written Japanese (at least JLPT L1 or native) and English
Experience: You have at least 3 years of marketing experience with a focus towards growth/performance/campaigns marketing for Japan, ideally having backgrounds in fintech or related tech/financial services industries and marketing channel expertise
Localization Expertise: You possess a deep understanding of Japan's local nuances across markets and are skilled in tailoring strategies to fit diverse cultural contexts
Team Collaboration: You are a proactive team player with excellent project planning skills, capable of leading cross-functional initiatives
Data-Driven: Your approach is rooted in analytics; you leverage data to inform decisions and drive growth
Creativity: You bring creative flair to your strategies, constantly seeking innovative ways to engage audiences and achieve objectives, couple with a strong understanding on creative assets (what works or doesn’t work in Japan culture)
Communication: You are an effective communicator, able to articulate ideas clearly and collaborate efficiently with teams and stakeholders

Strong Proficiency in Japanese Copywriting
Event management: Your background in planning and executing local events (like seminars or community meetups) demonstrates an ability to drive real-world engagement and build a local presence—a crucial differentiator in a high-context market like Japan
Affiliate Marketing: Expertise in setting up and scaling an affiliate program showcases your ability to secure high-quality customers efficiently
Social/Organic Channel Management: Your ability to manage compelling social media content demonstrates ability for building a sustainable user base and maximizing non-paid reach in the competitive digital landscape
Salary:
6,624,000 JPY to 8,352,000 JPY per annum

We expect new joiners in the office most days to build connections and learn from colleagues for their first six months. After that, most Wisers split their working week between the office and home, typically coming in at least 12 times a month.
