Key Responsibilities
Marketing Spend Oversight
- Monitor and track marketing budgets across channels, campaigns, and business units.
- Ensure proper allocation and reconciliation of marketing expenses in coordination with accounting and marketing operations.
- Drive monthly variance analysis between forecast and actual spend.
- Build and maintain financial models to measure ROI of marketing initiatives (e.g., digital advertising, events, sponsorships).
- Develop dashboards that track key performance metrics such as CAC, LTV, and ROAS.
- Provide forward-looking insights to guide marketing investment decisions.
- Conduct financial and qualitative evaluations of marketing tools and platforms (CRM, email marketing, automation, attribution, etc.).
- Compare alternatives based on cost, performance metrics, vendor terms, and scalability.
- Partner with Marketing Ops to make data-driven recommendations on tool selection, renewals, or discontinuations.
- Assist in the preparation of marketing budgets and reforecasts.
- Collaborate with marketing leads to ensure spending aligns with strategic objectives.
- Identify and flag over/under-utilized budget categories or tools.
- Act as the Finance point of contact for Marketing, Operations, and Revenue & Sales functions.
- Present analysis and insights to senior stakeholders with clear narrative and actionable recommendations.
- Support scenario planning for marketing-driven initiatives and expansion opportunities.
- Develop standardized templates and reporting processes for recurring marketing finance workflows.
- Automate reports where possible using BI tools or spreadsheet scripting.
- Recommend process enhancements for spend visibility, vendor tracking, and ROI optimization.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field (MBA or advanced degree a plus).
- 2–5 years of relevant experience in financial planning & analysis (FP&A), marketing finance, or business analytics.
- Experience supporting marketing or growth teams is strongly preferred.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
- Strong modeling skills for ROI analysis and cost comparisons.
- Familiarity with marketing systems and data (e.g., Adjust, Braze, Google Analytics, Meta Ads Manager).
- Familiarity with Python, SQL, Power BI, Tableau to extract, analyze and visualize data.
- High attention to detail, technically astute intellectual curiosity, and business acumen.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to relay insights clearly to non-finance stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and thrive in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
