✨Join a group of passionate advocates on our mission to improve the lives of youth! Rite of Passage Team is hiring for a Group Supervisor at Mt. Evans Qualifying House in Idaho Springs, CO ✨

The Colorado Qualifying House (Q House) is a transitional housing & positive skill development program located on over 70 acres of land at the bottom of Mt. Blue Sky. The Q house serves as a Residential Treatment Center that provides male youth ages 16-21 with opportunities for positive growth through evidence-based interventions and innovative programming, including on-site school & vocational opportunities, therapeutic support, community engagement, and tailored programming that is co-created in collaboration with all youth and staff.

The Q House program subscribes to the four principles of effective intervention: risk assessment, addressing needs, providing individualized treatment, and ensuring fidelity. By following these core principles, Colorado Qualifying House supports youth in developing the skills and resources necessary to lead self-determined lives without experiencing the barriers of future systems involvement. What you will do:

The Group Supervisor facilitates collaboration among staff and youth to ensure all expectations of the program and its services are met. They will assess the day’s needs and work with the team to identify leads for each task, and ensure completion according to the specifications required by licensing and shown to have the greatest success in implementation. This includes the morning cadence (wake up, chores, physical education), participating in work, school, or community service, and the evening cadence (dinner, positive skill development groups, and leisure time before bed). We strongly believe in the importance of Continuous Quality Improvement, and are looking for an active partner eager to help the site find the best methods and approaches for exceeding our goals – as staff, youth, and the program as a whole.

This Group Supervisor will work on A Shift (Sunday – Wednesday afternoon) and have a Coach Counselor and Night Coach Counselor as direct reports. All on-site staff (including the Teacher, Program Manager, and other support staff throughout the day) are charged with the safety, care, and around-the-clock supervision of students in the program. Most of the time the Group Supervisor will be at the Qualifying House in Idaho Springs, with consistent community outings in Clear Creek County and the greater Denver Metro area (volunteering with the local Elks Lodge, going to museums, hikes & ski trips, etc). This role will work with the team to make sure regardless of location or programming (at the house, working in community, going on field trips) there is active supervision and support provided to the youth according to licensing requirements and in line with student needs.

“Kids with trauma history don’t need more punishment; and – quite frankly – they don’t need more stickers” - Dr. Ross Greene

“I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essentials facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived.” - Henry David Thoreau

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Have direct care experience working with at-risk youth and/or the systems they frequently interact with
  • Be empathetic, trauma-informed, and able to model the positive impact of building healthy relationships
  • Have experience in a supervisory role.
  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Be able to pass a criminal background check, illegal drug screen, physical, and TB test.
  • The ability to work 3.5 days/week in Idaho Springs (preference given to candidates in the greater Denver Metro area)
  • Have reliable transportation and able to drive in winter conditions

Applicants that stand out may:

  • Have a BA/BS in Human Services or related fields, or are actively working towards one
  • Have lived experience that mirrors some of the lives of our students (navigating state systems, foster care, incarceration, or poverty support programs)
  • Have previous experience with or knowledge of ACEs, trauma-informed care, peer support, and other related research & methodologies

After 40 years of improving the lives of youth, we are looking for passionate advocates to continue the legacy of helping young people become successful adults. As a Youth Mentor, you will have the unique opportunity to create a positive, safe and supportive environment for the youth we serve while building a career rich in growth opportunities and self-fulfillment.
