Position Description

POSITION: SALES MANAGER, GROUP SALES

DEPARTMENT: SALES & CATERING

REPORTS TO: DIRECTOR OF SALES & MARKETING

SUMMARY:

Responsible for the establishment of new relationships while maintaining existing relationships within the

assigned market segment. To meet or exceed group revenue goals and group banquet goals as assigned.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Includes the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

Guest Content:

 Solicit existing group accounts for repeat business

 Conduct sales calls, as indicated by Weekly/Monthly activity goals

 Handle all correspondence, as it pertains to assigned market segment.

 Entertain clients and conduct site inspections as indicated by the Weekly/Monthly activity goals

 Prospect & solicit various account lists to expand account base.

 Prospect & Solicit The Knowland Group Readers & Insight as indicated by the Weekly/Monthly

activity goals

 Trace calls in Delphi to existing accounts on a timely basis.

 Responds to customers inquiries and negotiates contracts with customers

 Establish familiarization with competition.

 Participate in Sales trips/missions, sales blitzes and Trade Shows as indicated

 Re-book group and follow-up with customers by sending a thank you

 Have a working knowledge of the maintenance and operating procedures of all departmental

equipment.

 Make progress in your own personal growth development plan. Have clear-cut objectives.

 Handle walk-ins and inquiries for the hotel within or outside of assigned market

 Ensure coverage of the Sales & Catering office to meet client demands

 Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned or required by the Director of Sales &

Marketing.

 Promote good community relations.

 Be able to write effectively and speak clearly and concisely

 

Job Content:

 Meet monthly consumption goals, as indicated by the group revenue goals and banquet revenue

 Attend bi-monthly sales meetings.

 Communicate all account information to the appropriate departments via prescribed tools.

 Execute additional projects as assigned by the Director of Sales and Marketing.

 Prepare weekly / monthly activity reports for the Director of Sales and Marketing.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger,

handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand;

walk and taste or smell.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this

job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to

adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather

conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
