The Group Sales Manager at Morgan’s Wonderland & Morgan’s Inspiration Island is responsible for driving group sales and revenue while overseeing the successful planning and execution of private events and group experiences. This position manages the sales process from initial inquiry through event completion, including prospecting for new business, cultivating client relationships, conducting facility tours, managing bookings, preparing proposals and contracts, and coordinating client requests. The Group Sales Manager leads and develops the group sales and event team, providing direction, support, and accountability to ensure team members are successful in their roles and contribute to the continued growth of the program.

This is an active and highly visible position that represents Morgan’s Wonderland & Morgan’s Inspiration Island both within the parks and throughout the community. The Group Sales Manager is expected to build and maintain strong relationships with local businesses, schools, organizations, and community partners by attending local events, participating in networking opportunities, and maintaining memberships with relevant professional and community organizations. The position works closely with park leadership and the event team to ensure effective operations, exceptional client experiences, and the continued professional growth and success of the team.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute group sales strategies to generate new business, increase revenue, and achieve established sales goals.
  • Prospect, cultivate, and maintain relationships with businesses, schools, nonprofits, community organizations, and other potential group clients to build a consistent sales pipeline.
  • Manage the client experience from initial inquiry through event completion, including responding to inquiries, conducting facility tours, preparing proposals, managing bookings, and maintaining client contracts.
  • Build and maintain a strong presence within the local business and community network by attending events, participating in networking opportunities, and maintaining memberships with relevant professional and community organizations.
  • Lead and oversee the event operations team responsible for executing private park rentals, facility rentals, corporate and school picnics, meetings, dinner events, and other group functions from setup through breakdown.
  • Direct and delegate pre-event planning and operational responsibilities, including facility diagrams, event checklists, final walkthroughs, signage, audiovisual requirements, special requests, and facility readiness, ensuring the assigned team completes all requirements.
  • Coordinate with park leadership and operational departments to establish staffing plans, assign responsibilities, and ensure the event team has the resources and support necessary for successful day-of execution.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities to increase event revenue through additional services, upgrades, catering, venue offerings, and other applicable park products.
  • Oversee post-event processes, including client satisfaction follow-up, event recaps, final billing coordination, resolution of outstanding client needs, and opportunities for repeat business and referrals.
  • Monitor team performance, sales activity, lead conversion, booking activity, and event execution while providing leadership, coaching, and accountability to ensure departmental goals and service standards are consistently met.

  • Associate degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; one year of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong sales, relationship-building, communication, and organizational skills with the ability to develop new business and maintain positive client and community relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop a team while establishing clear expectations, delegating responsibilities, and holding team members accountable for successful outcomes.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to effectively manage multiple events, priorities, deadlines, and client requests in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint; experience with ticketing, booking, or event management applications preferred.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and special events, while maintaining an active presence within the community and supporting the successful execution of park events.
