Where you will work: This position offers a hybrid work option up to 50% remote and is open to any Compeer office location in Illinois, Minnesota and Wisconsin.

The contributions you will make:  This position leads the delivery of loans, leases, and other financial services to diversified agricultural clients across multiple lines of business. Directs teams responsible for business development, client satisfaction, and client loyalty. Effectively manages resources, credit administration, compliance, profitability and loan quality within various business units. Develops and implements strategies and tactics in areas of responsibility and is responsible for planning, organizing and implementing operational activities to achieve goals and objectives.

A typical day: 

  • Develops and executes strategic business development initiatives that drive revenue growth, expand market presence, and strengthen relationships with key clients, financial institutions, and strategic partners.
  • Leads high-value commercial relationship management efforts by identifying new business opportunities, sourcing complex transactions, and positioning the organization as a trusted advisor within the market.
  • Champions a high-performing business development and sales culture by establishing clear performance expectations, fostering continuous improvement, and driving operational initiatives that maximize both organizational scalability and client growth.
  • Collaborates cross-functionally with executive leadership, credit, marketing, and operational teams to align business development strategies with organizational objectives and deliver integrated client solutions.
  • Monitors market trends, competitive activity, and industry developments to identify emerging opportunities, mitigate risk, and develop innovative solutions that enhance organizational competitiveness.
  • Oversees portfolio performance and transaction quality by supporting sound credit practices, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and balancing growth objectives with risk management expectations.

The skills and experience we prefer you have: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, economics, agribusiness, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in commercial lending, capital markets, agricultural finance, or a related financial services field.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience cultivating high-performing teams and leading strategic business development initiatives, and complex client relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop high-performing teams through coaching, collaboration, accountability, and change leadership.
  • Strong relationship-building, interpersonal, and communication skills with the ability to work effectively with executives, board members, clients, regulators, industry partners, and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to anticipate industry and market trends and develop strategies that support organizational growth, operational effectiveness, and long-term competitiveness.
  • Ability to lead effectively through organizational change, market uncertainty, and evolving business conditions while providing clarity, direction, and sound decision-making.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills with the ability to evaluate complex issues and apply insights to business decisions and organizational priorities.
  • Commitment to understanding client and market needs and delivering solutions that enhance client satisfaction, retention, and long-term value.
  • Demonstrated innovation, adaptability, and continuous improvement mindset with the ability to foster a culture of learning, resilience, and high performance.
  • Strong business and financial acumen, including knowledge of business operations, agricultural finance, lending practices, and applicable regulatory requirements.

How we will take care of you:

Our job titles may span more than one career level (associate, senior, principal, etc.). The actual title and base pay offered is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role is eligible for variable compensation and other benefits.

Base Pay
$275,500$372,700 USD
