Cypress Hills Local Development Corporation (CHLDC) is looking for amazing individuals to become part-time Group Leaders within the Youth and Family Services Elementary and Middle school After School programs.  This position is a part-time hourly 15-18 hours per week Monday through Friday.  Availability 2:00pm to 6:00pm (depends on site placement), Monday to Friday. Occasional evenings (6:00pm – 9:00pm) and weekends (9:00am - 4:00pm) are required at our Beacon worksites.

 

Principal Duties:
  • Plan, implement and document successful educational, recreation, arts activities, youth leadership, community service and with school-aged children.
  • Adhere to policies and procedures in a pro-active manner, making the safety and care of children your primary focus.
  • Build a positive relationship with each after-school participant in your care, and foster positive connections between participants. Actively engage with children at all times with the goal of fostering the positive development of each child and the group.
  • Conduct yourself as a professional and representative of the agency with school staff, parents, children and anyone else with whom you come into contact in your role.
  • Effectively manage youth worker and assigned group of children. Maintain and enforce progressive discipline policy.
  • Assist in participant’s enrollment, recording and submitting daily attendance records, and any other required documents to Director.
  • Inspect on a daily basis all facilities (including shared spaces), equipment, and supplies;  be sure all are accounted for and put away at the end of each day; and provide Supervisors with a daily room check in log
  • Actively participate in all aspects of professional development, including scheduled supervision, weekly team meetings, pre-service training, and an additional paid professional development training required.
  • Demonstrates commitment to leadership development, community building, and community organizing as strategies for social change.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested.

Compensation:

  • $16.00 increased based on educational and/or experience level.

Qualifications
Position Qualifications:
  • At least 1 year of College, preferably in Education, Social Work or related field.
  • 2 years’ experience working with children in a child care, after school programs or educational setting
  • Bilingual preferred.
