We are seeking a detail-oriented and efficient Grounds Maintenance professional to join our team in Weipa Town, Australia. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing the appearance of our outdoor spaces, ensuring a safe and attractive environment for our community.
- Perform regular lawn maintenance, including mowing, edging, and trimming
- Plant and maintain flowers, shrubs, and trees according to seasonal requirements
- Operate and maintain various landscaping equipment and tools
- Implement and maintain irrigation systems to ensure proper watering schedules
- Apply fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides as needed, following safety guidelines
- Remove debris, litter, and weeds from landscaped areas
- Perform basic maintenance and repairs on grounds equipment
- Assist in the design and implementation of new landscaping projects
- Monitor and report any safety hazards or maintenance issues
- Adapt maintenance practices to suit the local climate and plant species of Weipa Town
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1-2 years of experience in grounds maintenance or landscaping
- Proficiency in operating landscaping equipment such as mowers, trimmers, and blowers
- Knowledge of basic gardening and horticulture techniques
- Experience with irrigation system maintenance and troubleshooting
- Familiarity with lawn care techniques and safe handling of chemicals and fertilizers
- Basic equipment maintenance and repair skills
- Valid driver's license
- Pesticide application certification (preferred)
- Physical ability to perform outdoor work in various weather conditions
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work efficiently and manage time effectively
- Reliable and able to work independently or as part of a team
- Familiarity with local plant species and landscaping practices in Weipa Town (preferred)
