To oversee ad coordinate all grounds related activities for Physical Facilities Department
Duties:
Plan, direct, manage, and lead the overall operation of the University Grounds crew to maintain a safe and attractive landscape. Ensure compliance with applicable rules, laws, and policies related to pest control and water management. Assess, develop, implement and evaluate necessary cultural practices for turf and tree care, irrigation, and storm water management. Coordinates and assigns daily groundskeeping schedules and assignment for 3-12 employees, Expected to monitor employees performance, prepare employee performance evaluations and provide constructive counselling. Responsible for training all new and existing groundskeeping employees in proper equipment use, hands on work and safety procedures. Will be expected to draft budgets and determine necessary equipment needs and services. Groundskeeping activities include but are not limited to: snow removal, mowing, trimming, sprinkler line repairs, furniture relocation, package deliveries, office moves, planting/watering annuals, distribution of mulch, and other related duties as assigned. Responsible for Maintaining and overseeing the maintenance of all grounds related equipment. Working with the Facilities office staff to order supplies and materials for grounds maintenance. Other duties: General campus grounds cleaning & maintenance; snow removal and sanding of sidewalks and streets. Fertilizing, mowing, weed eating, watering, maintaining sprinkler systems, turf maintenance, pruning, planting, weeding, aerating, power raking, apply pesticides and blowing out sprinkler system and trash removal. Keeping all equipment in good running condition for each season. Moving services, office furniture, and equipment; yearly plant-in for campus and hardscape maintenance. Assists with special event setups.

Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must have a valid driver's license
- Knowledge of installation, repair, and application of above ground and underground irrigation systems.
- Knowledge of horticulture and landscape maintenance.
- Knowledge of safety and accident prevention practices.
- Required to obtain Pesticide license for # 55 Regulatory Weeds from the Montana Department of Agriculture within 4 months of award of the Grounds Manager position. Must maintain the license year to year.
- Degree or certification in horticulture and landscape design.
- Extensive knowledge of equipment, tools, and procedures of grounds construction and care.
- 3 plus years of hands on experience in landscaping and groundskeeping duties.
- Experience maintaining large grounds areas preferred.
- Multiple years of work experience leading and supervising a crew.
- Extensive knowledge of principles, materials, and methods of grounds maintenance and related equipment repair.
- Knowledge of pest management practices and procedures, including weed management.
- Knowledge of storm water management practices.
- Be able to properly lift 50- to 100-lbs from ground level to a height of 4'-6" and be able to carry 30-lbs for a maximum distance of 30-ft. with or without a reasonable accommodation.
