POSITION OF: Groundman (Line Operations)
HEADQUARTERS: Gresham
RATE: $24.73 per hour
HOURS: Monday-Friday / 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Work under direction of foreman, leadman, or lineman on an overhead or underground line construction maintenance crew.
DUTIES: (Essential Job Responsibilities)
- Work safely.
- Load and unload bulky equipment and rigging.
- Operate hand line to pull heavy objects.
- Pull heavy wire down trench/road.
- Dig holes (for poles, underground opens), using shovel.
- Flag traffic for crews.
- Working after hours on outage response.
- Shuttle vehicles CDL or Non-CDL.
- Downtime = Truck Time (Cleaning & restocking trucks)
- Fill in multiple line utility needs (i.e. storeroom or utility workers)
- Ability to work in a crew atmosphere (chain of command)
QUALIFICATIONS: (Knowledge/Skills/Experience Required)
- Valid driver’s license and demonstrated safe driving record
- Copy of High School Diploma and GED.
- Physically qualified for position. Must be able to pass a physical & ability to lift over 50lbs.
- CDL Class A learners Permit by time of job offer.
- Complete a DOT medical examination with a certified medical examiner, and ensure the information is recorded on your DMV driver record.
SELECTION:
Must pass ½ day yard assessment & sit-down interview prior to job offer.
The position for which you are applying is covered under the Department of Transportation and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration regulations as defined in 49 CFR Part 40 and 49 CFR Parts 380, 390 and 391 which became effective on October 29, 2004. If you have been employed by PGE for less than 3 years, once you submit your Bid, you will receive a Supplemental Application form. The information you provide on the form related to the names and addresses of your previous employers during the preceding 3 years, dates of employment, reasons for leaving employment, whether you were subject to FMCSA while employed, whether your job was designated as a safety sensitive function in any DOT mode, may be used and your previous employers may be contacted.
During the probationary period following reassignment to any job, at least two progress reports will be completed. These reports will be discussed with the employee by his/her immediate supervisor, and copies of each will be given to him/her.

Salary Range:
$24.73 - $39.62Starting pay is listed in the job posting above. Salary range determined by the current collective bargaining agreement and may include step increases based on time in the position.
