A Grit Testing Coordinator with Grit Tech™ and Smith & Loveless is responsible for coordinating all grit testing for GRIT TECH™ and Smith & Loveless. They have the ability to develop pricing strategy and prepare customer proposals. The Grit Testing Coordinator has the knowledge level to answer customers’ questions regarding grit removal systems and grit testing protocol. They coordinate, market and promote everything related to grit testing. Additionally, they publish testing reports for customers and internal records.

Job duties

  • Answers technical questions from customers about grit testing.
  • Request and obtain the information required to develop a quote for Grit Removal Efficiency Testing or Grit Profile.
  • Develop GRIT TECH™ and Smith & Loveless Grit Efficiency and Grit Profile costing, pricing strategy and formal quotes/proposals.
  • Determine what equipment is required for a grit test, have it crated, and sent to the job site for grit test.
  • Request detailed drawings, test locations, and velocities at each location before going to the job site for the testing. If customer does not want to provide this information, send forms for end-user to state in the documentation they realize the tests may be inconclusive.
  • Obtain approval from Engineering on test locations, verify elevations, and, etc. Develop test plan and testing locations approved before anyone is sent to the job site.
  • Provide the data collection forms and test plan to technicians performing the test for measurement and documentation of test results.
  • Perform or manage lab processing of grit samples.
  • Project Manager for assigned testing and other various projects. Perform on-site testing, oversee the grit testing, and make sure protocols are followed. Supervision of assigned or indirect team members.
  • Inventory and keep track of all grit testing equipment. Make sure that when the equipment comes back from a job site it is still operating correctly.
  • Draft testing reports from field tests and lab tests for approval by Engineering (and others as required). Issue final report to customers. Files reports for future reference and maintains list of test sites.
  • Answer the GRIT TECH™ phone line and e-mails.
  • Work with Marketing Team to develop marketing and materials for Grit Testing and GRIT TECH™.
  • Periodically check the GRIT TECH™ PO box for mail, checks, and samples.
  • Follow-up on inquiries and quotes.
  • Process orders and makes sure projects are invoiced in a timely manner.
  • Other duties as assigned by Manager.
Qualifications

Skills/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental, engineering, science, construction management, business, or marketing.
  • Associate Technical Degree or equivalent job-related experience will be considered.
  • 3 months or more related experience in the product manufacturing, product testing industry with specific emphasis in custom manufactured product lines is preferred.
  • Previous experience in environmental testing, wastewater, or field service in the water/wastewater industry is highly preferred.
  • Experience in technical writing and project management is beneficial to this position.
  • Excellent analytical ability.
  • Effective interpersonal communication, technical writing and presentation skills.
  • Ability to analyze existing markets of a product to grow and expand the same.
  • Ability to communicate with end users and consulting engineers to assist in the selection and implementation of testing and related products.
  • Ability to understand costing, markup and discounts to develop pricing strategy.
  • Ability to read and understand project specifications and drawings.
  • Ability to set goals and be highly organized.
