This role will be located at one of Discovery Land Company’s locations: “Atlantic Fields, set in Hobe Sound, FL. Atlantic Fields is seeking a Greenskeeper to join the Golf Course Maintenance Department.
The Greenskeeper performs routine manual labor involved in golf course maintenance, does semi-skilled grounds construction and maintenance work, operates small hand-powered equipment, and occasionally performs work involving large equipment such as tractors, loaders and gang mowers. Each Greenskeeper may be assigned responsibility for the care and maintenance of designated areas on the golf course and does related work as required.

Key Responsibilities

• Operates mowers and string trimmers in trimming greens, aprons, tees, around trees, fence lines, banks and hillsides, also edges cart paths, rakes, and maintains sand bunkers

• Sets tee markers and cups on greens daily, maintains ball washers, replaces tee towels and flags when needed, removes debris, sands and seeds tee and drop area divots, and cleans flower beds
• Maintains fuel and fluid levels for all types of equipment on a daily basis, reports equipment problems or failure to the equipment manager immediately
• Returns all equipment to the designated location at the maintenance facility, and cleans the maintenance areas
• Under the direction of the Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent, the groundskeeper-labor-rough crew marks the course for cart control weekly, moves cart control barriers and replaces worn or lost ropes and signs, and may mark hazard and drop areas
• Waters and fertilize tees, greens, and fairways, and under direct supervision of the Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent, sprays chemicals on landscaped areas
• Helps in project work, assists in construction of new greens, tees, and fairways.  Grades and prepares soil base, lays sod, and seeds tees, greens and fairways.
• Installs forms and lays walks and paths using gravel and asphalt mixes, excavates and backfills ditches and trenches with hand tools, repairs and replaces pipe on irrigation systems
• May be asked to operate mowers, dump trucks, or other light equipment
• Performs any other duties as assigned. 

Skills and Qualifications

• Knowledge methods and materials used in grounds and landscape area construction/maintenance work
• Working knowledge of and ability to use hand and power tools and equipment
• Ability to operate trucks and light motorized equipment
• Ability to work in a team environment and operate in a safe, professional manner at all times
• Ability to follow oral and written directions
• Possession of a valid driver’s license
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the position including, but not limited to, working outdoors in all weather conditions, standing, walking, and moving for periods of greater than eight (8) hours, and lifting and carrying items sometimes greater than fifty (50) pounds.

• Must be able to work flexible work hours/schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Long hours may be required due to business demands.

• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English; additional languages preferred.
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the position including, but not limited to, working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, standing, walking, and moving for periods of greater than eight (8) hours, and lifting and carrying items sometimes greater than fifty (50) pounds.
