Greenskeeper II

SUMMARY

Performs a diverse range of activities involved in golf course maintenance and construction. Performs semi-skilled grounds construction and maintenance work and related tasks as required. Regularly works in wet or humid conditions (non-weather) and works near moving mechanical part. Occasionally works in high, precarious places and in areas with fumes or airborne particles. Frequently works in outdoor weather conditions. Frequently works in outdoor weather conditions. Occasionally it works in extreme heat (non-weather) and experiences vibration. Noise level is loud. 

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Lead small crews to complete projects as needed.
• Ability to use and understand transit, level or other device used to construct proper grades and/or layout.
• Performs general landscape maintenance using handheld equipment.
• Rakes and maintains sand bunkers.
• Operates small machinery to assist with edging, trimming and mowing.
• Involved with tasks related to course detail (weed and debris clean up).
• Operates walking equipment in mowing greens collars and tees.
• Assists with golf course set-up procedures.
• Assists with fertilizer applications on trees, fairways and rough areas.
• Operates utility vehicles for hauling material and removing debris.
• Operates riding equipment in mowing fairways, approaches and rough as well as sprayers.
• Operates sod cutter, trencher and tamper for routine projects.
• Operates dump truck and tractors for hauling purposes.
• Operates large equipment such as skid-loader, trenchers and backhoe for projects.
• Operates equipment safely and is aware of associates and their prospective work areas.
• Incorporates safe work practices in job performance.
• Performs skilled duties related to experience (pruning, plugging, etc.).
• Maintains flexibility to take on new and different tasks as directed by the department manager.
• Attend staff meetings.

Skills/ Abilities

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to apply basic mathematical skills.
• Ability to manage a wide variety of activities at the same time.

Education/Experience:

• One -month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of training and experience.  
• Must be able to pass a background check.
• 10% English communication

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to physically reach, bend, stoop, kneel, and lift up to 100 pounds.
• Must be able to work under variable temperature conditions (extreme heat or cold, indoors/outdoors). 
• Must be able to work around chemicals, dust, fumes and/or odor hazards. 
• Regularly works in outdoor weather conditions and may face the risk of electrical shock or encountering fumes or airborne pathogens.
• Must be able to work in a loud environment and in areas near moving mechanical parts.
