Graphic Designer
We are seeking a talented Graphic Designer to create impactful retail packaging solutions that bring our products and brands to life in the U.S. market. This role requires a balance of creative thinking and strong technical execution to ensure artwork is visually compelling and production-ready. Working across multiple brands and product categories, this role requires strong creative thinking, technical accuracy, and attention to detail. The designer will collaborate closely with Product Development, Buying, Graphics, and Production teams to deliver consistent, high-quality packaging from concept through final production
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Packaging Design & Development
- Design and develop retail packaging for in-line and clip strip products.
- Create packaging layouts that maximize shelf impact and shopper engagement.
- Apply brand guidelines consistently across product categories.
Creative Development
- Translate written or verbal product briefs into effective visual solutions.
- Create visual assets including:
- Product packaging layouts
- Icons and graphics
- Product illustrations/images
- Logos and brand elements
Production Artwork & Technical Execution
- Prepare print-ready artwork files including the following;
- Die lines
- Bleeds
- Color profiles
- Typography standards
- Coordinate with overseas production teams and suppliers to ensure artwork accuracy.
Brand Management
- Maintain and evolve brand style guides.
- Ensure visual consistency across packaging and marketing materials.
- Support brand rollout initiatives across product categories.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with:
- Product Development Team
- Buying / Merchandising Team
- Graphics Team
- Overseas production partners (US & Taiwan)
- Participate in regular project meetings to align on timelines and deliverables.
Continuous Improvement
- Stay current with design trends, software tools, and packaging production techniques.
- Identify opportunities to improve design processes and efficiencies.
- Understand and demonstrate safe work practices at all times to ensure a safe work environment
- Comply with all company policies and procedures
- Complete special projects and other duties as assigned by your supervisor
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Design Skills
- Strong visual storytelling and creative problem-solving ability
- Strong understanding of retail packaging design
- Excellent typography, layout, and composition skills
- Ability to design within brand guidelines
Technical Skills
- Advanced proficiency in:
- Adobe Illustrator
- Adobe Photoshop
- Adobe InDesign (optional)
- Strong understanding of print production and packaging specifications
- Familiarity with packaging die lines and print processes
- Working knowledge of Excel for tracking artwork information
Professional Skills
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- High attention to detail
- Ability to work independently in a remote team environment
Experience and Credentials
Required:
- Minimum 4+ years professional graphic design experience
- Degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, or Fine Arts, or equivalent experience
Candidate Portfolio Requirement
- Applicants must submit a portfolio.
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
- Fully remote position based in Cape Town
- Collaborative work with global teams across North America and Asia
- Fast-paced environment supporting retail product development cycle
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to communicate effectively in person, over the phone, and via digital platforms.
