Job Summary: 

The Graphic Designer creates high-quality visual content that supports Gateway Church's creative needs across the whole organization, not limited to any single event, campaign, or ministry. Using design software, this role produces art, illustration, and layout for campaigns, print collateral, digital assets, and internal and external publications. The Graphic Designer fully supports the vision set by the Creative Lead and the Director of Communications, translating it into polished, on-brand design work. 


Principal Job Responsibilities: 

  • Designs and produces high-quality visual content, including print collateral, digital assets, and campaign materials for ministries and departments across Gateway Church 
  • Coordinates with the Creative Lead, fellow designers, and requesting departments to gather the information and materials needed for each project 
  • Develops layouts and concepts, refining art, copy arrangement, typography, and related aesthetic elements from rough sketch to finished design 
  • Prepares final, print- and publish-ready art and copy, and assists with coordinating photography, artwork, and printing as needed 
  • Uses Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Lightroom) and other design and AI tools to produce work efficiently 
  • Collaborates with other Communications team disciplines to ensure design work aligns with project goals and timelines 
  • Consults with requesting departments on project scope and design expectations 
  • Upholds Gateway Church's brand standards across all creative work 
  • Performs other duties as assigned. 

 

As a member of the Gateway Church team, this position is expected to be available to support, recruit, and develop Serve Team members, and to serve alongside the broader team as ministry and organizational needs arise. 


General Skills & Qualifications: 

  • Solid working knowledge of graphic design principles and industry standards 
  • Detail-oriented, with the ability to meet deadlines across multiple concurrent projects 
  • Demonstrated creativity and design expertise 
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Lightroom) and familiarity with AI design tools 
  • Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to work well with other departments and disciplines 
  • Awareness of current design trends and best practices 

Education/Certification(s): 

  • 2–4 years of professional design experience — required 
  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, visual communications, or a related field, or equivalent experience — required 
  • Demonstrated portfolio of design work across print and digital formats — preferred 
  • Prior experience in a church, nonprofit, or ministry environment — preferred

  • Sit or stand for extended periods of time 
  • Occasionally kneel or crouch 
  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 10 lbs. 
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.
