Graphic Designer
Remote · Associate level · Full-time
Job Summary
Aptive is seeking a Graphic Designer to support U.S. Customs and Border Protection's (CBP) Trusted Traveler Program (TTP) Marketing Support Services. This role is part of an integrated team delivering strategic communications, advertising, media, creative, and outreach efforts that help domestic and international travelers understand and engage with programs such as Global Entry.
As the team's dedicated design and production resource, you'll turn campaign concepts into finished pieces. Day to day, that means designing everything from event banners and airport signage to brochures, ads, and briefing decks, then carrying each piece through adaptations, revisions, and final specs. You'll also keep organized, editable source files so CBP can reuse and update materials long after launch.
This is a remote position. However, travel for occasional in-person meetings may be required.
Primary Responsibilities- Design and produce campaign creative, including ads, infographics, icons, and social media graphics (Instagram, X, YouTube).
- Develop collateral such as posters, brochures, flyers, fact sheets, and tear sheets with a consistent look and feel.
- Design and produce presentations and presentation templates in PowerPoint that follow brand standards.
- Produce event and exhibit materials, including pop-up banners, booth graphics, and signage, and update existing booth assets for recurring tradeshows and conferences.
- Design informational and directional signage for print and digital displays.
- Prepare print-ready files (preflight, bleeds, color profiles, dielines) and coordinate proofs with print vendors for banners, signage, brochures, and promotional items.
- Maintain production specifications (sizes, materials, color, finishing) for each deliverable and manage revisions through final approval.
- Adapt layouts for translated content in multiple languages, including right-to-left scripts (Arabic) and non-Latin scripts (Hindi, Japanese, Korean), while preserving design integrity.
- Create advertising creative across digital, print, out-of-home, and broadcast placements in support of annual media campaigns.
- Maintain brand standards and extend existing campaign creative, building on previously developed designs, logos, and assets.
- Produce accessible PDFs and Office documents that meet Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act.
- Organize and archive editable source files and production-ready assets for client delivery and reuse.
- Present creative to senior team members and stakeholders, gather feedback, and manage revisions against deadlines.
- Contribute ideas in creative meetings and support the project team throughout campaign execution.
- 4+ years of professional experience as a graphic or production designer, in-house or at an agency.
- Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design or a related Visual Arts field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Portfolio required, showing both print production and social media work.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. Working knowledge of After Effects is a plus.
- Hands-on experience preparing files for commercial print production, including large-format pieces such as banners and signage.
- Experience preparing graphics for social media and online publishing.
- Solid understanding of layout, typography, color theory, and brand systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially building polished presentations in PowerPoint.
- Ability to manage multiple small projects at once and meet deadlines.
- Working knowledge of Section 508 accessibility requirements for PDFs and Office documents.
- Experience designing multilingual materials, especially right-to-left or non-Latin scripts.
- Experience creating tradeshow, exhibit, or environmental graphics.
- Experience creating accessible PDFs in InDesign and Acrobat.
- Experience supporting federal government clients or public awareness campaigns.
- Experience creating data visualizations, infographics, and maps.
- Strong time management, creativity, and problem-solving skills, with high attention to detail.
- Ability to get up to speed quickly on complex topics and thrive in a fast-paced, changing environment.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
