The GRAPHIC DESIGNER serves as a member of Lighthouse's MARKETING TEAM, supporting THE DEVELOPMENT OF PRINT AND WEB-BASED designs under the supervision of the Director of Marketing and Creative Services, working within a brand standard guide. Exceptional skills in graphic design will be used to visually communicate the brand and help implement Lighthouse's strategic marketing and communications.
Qualifications
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The fundamental responsibilities of Lighthouse’s Graphic Artist include:
- Design: Creates, updates and refines marketing materials that include, but not limited to, ads, newsletters, brochures, posters, large displays, booklets, annual reports, magazines, PowerPoint presentations, web & social media graphics, and signature pieces for Lighthouse brands and services.
- Branding: Ensure alignment with pre-determined brand standards for consistent design across multiple platforms.
- Creativity/Customer Service: Work closely with various departments taking creative ideas and making them into tangible assets. As a natural communicator, graphic designer is highly motivated and work quickly and efficiently.
- Project Management: Meets all deadlines while juggling multiple projects. Maintains current knowledge of design trends. Solves problems proactively with patience and intelligence.
EDUCATION:
- Required: Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, communications/marketing/public relations or related field. Relevant work experience and certifications may be considered in lieu of a degree.
EXPERIENCE:
Prefer 2-3 years of related experience in the graphic design industry. A portfolio that demonstrates graphic design ability and creative skills can be substituted for years of experience. Must be able to work with minimal supervision and successfully collaborate with leaders.
JOB-RELATED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- Proficiency in design software and Adobe Creative Suite (specifically Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign and Acrobat.)
- Exceptional organizational skills required to handle multiple time-sensitive responsibilities, set priorities independently, meet deadlines, and work under pressure.
- Broad knowledge of web and graphic design strategies and channels.
- Experience designing for a large variety of print and digital media; working with an established brand and designing within brand guidelines.
GENERAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- Proficiency in computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Adobe products.
- Aptitude in sound decision-making and problem-solving.
- Strong interpersonal communication with the ability to motivate others.
- Strong customer-service focus.
- Ability to work independently and as a part of a team with enthusiasm and creativity.
- Able to attend to detail and prioritize.
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:
- Medium Work: Lifting or exerting 20 to 50 pounds of weight/force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of weight/force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of weight/force constantly to move objects.
- Must be able to stoop, bend, reach and grab with arms and hands, manual dexterity.
- Must be able to travel throughout Lighthouse’s service area.
- When a Lighthouse vehicle is not available, use of personal vehicle is required.
- Must be able to work regular office hours Monday-Friday.

Skills Required
- Bachelor's degree in graphic design, communications, marketing, public relations, or a related field; relevant experience and certifications may substitute.
- Two to three years of related graphic design experience, unless substituted by a portfolio demonstrating graphic design ability and creativity.
