Preble Street’s Finance department is a key organizational partner and, as one of the administration and operations departments of Preble Street, contributes to the agency mission by managing our financial systems and structures to keep the organization moving forward, optimally functioning, and continually improving.
Reporting to the Senior Director of Public Grants, the Grants Specialist is responsible for tracking, reporting, and monitoring compliance for the agency’s federal, state, and other public grants; coordinating grants receivable invoicing and reconciliations; conducting monitoring of and providing compliance support for subrecipients funded by the agency’s grants; and conducting budget analyses and preparing budget-to-actual reports. The Grants Specialist focuses on supporting grants that have complex reporting or compliance requirements and/or those with subrecipients.
QualificationsThe preferred combination of education and experience for this position includes a bachelor’s degree in accounting, business management, public administration or related field or 3-5 years of relevant work experience along with experience working in non- Profit organization and administration of public or private grants, including reporting.
Additional requirements include;
- High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 products, including Excel.
- Knowledge of basic accounting principles and computer-based accounting and payroll systems.
- Excellent organizational skills and communication skills, flexibility, good judgment, a high degree of analytical ability, willingness and eagerness to learn.
- Adherence to grant workflow processes and procedures.
- Ability to manage complex projects from creation to completion, manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and meet strict deadlines.
- Ability to work as a team and collaborate effectively with staff across departments.
- Knowledge of and ability to apply OMB Uniform Guidance, MAAP compliance requirements, and other Federal/State requirements stipulated in Agency grant award contracts.
- Understanding of Preble Street mission, vision, and values, and ability to apply this understanding to the role and work.
Compensation and Benefits:
The Grants Specialist position is a full-time, exempt (salaried) position offering a competitive pay of $72,940 annually and robust benefits, including:
- 160 hours vacation time, 96 hours sick time, 32 hours personal time (accrued), 12 Paid Holidays
- Health insurance w/ 100% employer-paid option; Dental insurance w/ 100% employer-paid option; Vision insurance; Employer-paid Life, STD, and LTD insurance and voluntary, supplemental options.
