The Grants Manager is responsible for researching, writing, and managing grant proposals and reports to secure funding that supports the organization’s mission and programs for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). This role works collaboratively with leadership and program staff to effectively communicate impact, ensure compliance with funding requirements, and sustain strong relationships with funders.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

· Develop and recommend grant funding strategies aligned with organizational priorities

· Serves as the organization's subject matter expert on grant compliance and funding regulations

· Develop, write, and submit compelling grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and support materials

· Oversee the full grant lifecycle, including tracking deadlines, submissions, and reporting requirements

· Independently determines proposal approaches, funding recommendations and responsible for managing the organization's grant portfolio

· Make recommendations regarding allocation and utilization of grant funds 

· Evaluate funding opportunities and recommend pursuit decisions to leadership

· Exercise discretion in determining how grant funds are tracked within the Advancement Department to meet departmental goals

· Interpret grant requirements and develop compliance procedure 

· Prepare and submit timely and accurate grant reports, ensuring compliance with funder guidelines.

· Exercise independent judgment in prioritizing grant opportunities and managing funder relationships. 

· Work with finance and program teams to develop accurate grant budgets and support documentation

· Monitor awarded grants to ensure funds are used in accordance with grant terms and conditions

· Assist in developing strategies to diversify funding sources and increase grant revenue

· Perform other duties as necessary or assigned

Requirements

 · Excellent written and verbal communication skills 

· Ability to meet deadlines

· Strong organizational and time/project management skills

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office (specifically Word, Excel and PowerPoint)

· Experience with donor development/CRM software systems

· Ability to analyze data

Education and Experience: 

· Bachelor’s degree (or at least four years of work experience with non-profit administration, grant writing or fundraising)

· Proven record for soliciting/obtaining grants

· Two or more years of grant writing experience

Physical & Work Requirements

· Standard office environment with hybrid work flexibility

· Some evening and weekend work required

· Travel within Indiana for meetings with external stakeholders and potential donors

Skills Required
