Job Description Summary

This position will primarily support pre-and-post award activities within the Division of Geriatrics. The Grants Manager will be responsible for multiple monthly proposal submissions for all faculty within Geriatrics. The GM will manage proposal development, budget development, and related pre-award activities for a diverse sponsor portfolio. The GM will manage post-award activities including account setup, monitoring and review of all sponsored project expenditures, and fund projections. They will be expected to monitor and enforce compliance with sponsor guidelines and OMB Uniform Guidance and meet with principal investigators to discuss and advise them on financial issues related to their portfolios. They will maintain salary grids and work with payroll coordinators to ensure faculty and staff are paid correctly and will assist in the preparation and review of effort reports. The GM will participate in specific projects including the annual budget submission and will work on more complicated grants including clinical research grants and program projects with multiple sub-contracts. This position will also support the Associate Director of International Sponsored Programs with the management of the CFAR. Primarily focusing on internal accounts such as the CFAR Service Center, SWG’s, and EVPD. The GM B will work more independently and actively participate in specific projects, including the annual budget submission. The GM B will have a greater grants management experience than the GM A, such that they can make greater contributions, including engaging in more complex financial analysis.
The Grants Manager will report to the Associate Director, Sponsored Programs and will have an indirect reporting relationship to the PSOM Office of Research Support Services.

Job Responsibilities

The majority of duties will involve pre & post award administration. The Grants Manager will be responsible for multiple monthly proposal submissions for Geriatrics Division within DOM. Tasks include managing proposal development, meeting with Principal Investigators to discuss and manage budget development and related pre-award activities for diverse sponsor portfólio. Some management of post-award activities will be involved, including account setup, monitoring and review of all sponsored project expenditures and fund projections. The Grants Manager will monitor and enforce compliance with sponsor guidelines and OMB Uniform Guidance. Will meet with principal investigators to discuss and advise them on financial issues related to their portfolios. Maintain salary grids and work with payroll coordinators to ensure faculty and staff are paid correctly. Assist in the preparation of effort reports. Participate in specific projects, including the annual budget submission.

The GM B will work more independently and actively participate in specific projects including the annual budget submission. The GM B will work on the more complicated grants including training grants and program projects with multiple subcontracts. Moreover, it is expected that the GM B will have greater grants management experience than the GM A, such that s/he can make greater contributions, including engaging in financial analysis, or taking on more proposal submissions per month.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science and 5 to 7 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

Preferred

Experience with NIH and other federal granting agencies is required. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Adobe, and Business Objects. Excellent critical thinking, analytical, verbal, and written communication is required. Working knowledge of Uniform Guidance. Ability to apply solid organizational and time management skills to a deadline driven, multiple priority work environment is required. Familiarity with Penn Sponsored Research policies and related financiais systems.
