Salary & Benefits:
Minimum starting salary of $50,000, commensurate with experience.

PRIMARY DUTIES

1.    Supports and facilitates pre- and post-award (non-financial) sponsored activities throughout the project life cycle—from funding identification to close-out.
2.    Assists faculty and staff with proposal development including detailed budgeting in compliance with university policies and federal cost principles, internal approval routing, and proposal submission sponsor portals, and other submission platforms and formats.
3.    Assists faculty and staff with finding funding opportunities for their research, creative projects, and programming.
4.    Acts as the university’s liaison between principal investigators and administrative support, other university administrators, the OSP, and all sponsors.
5.    Confers with principal investigators and administrative staff at external-partner universities, agencies, and institutions to secure documentation and approvals for collaborative proposals (e.g., subaward proposals, letters of support and commitment, etc.).
6.    Reviews, revises, and facilitates execution of sponsored awards, including incoming and outgoing subawards, and incremental award continuations and progress reports.
7.    Reviews, revises, and facilitates execution of administrative updates such as no-cost extension requests, just-in-time documentation, pre-award cost prior approvals, final invention statement reports, relinquishing statements, etc.
8.    Applies knowledge, with support of senior grants specialists and OSP leadership, of relevant university policies and procedures, OMB 2 CFR 200 (the Uniform Administrative Requirements, Cost Principles, and Audit Requirements for Federal Awards), and other federal and state regulations to interpret funding opportunity announcements; navigate sponsor guidance and policies; support development of sound, compliant proposals; and assess and negotiate sponsored awards and agreements.
9.    Delivers outstanding service and builds and maintains strong interpersonal business relationships.
10.    Perform other duties as required/assigned by leadership.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate information and ideas verbally and in writing with professionalism, clarity, and effectiveness.
  • Skilled in making good decisions based on critical and analytical thinking, experience, and judgment.
  • Demonstrated curiosity, willingness to ask questions and for help when needed, and comfort with ambiguity.
  • Willingness to take direction from colleagues and leadership and follow instructions to complete projects.
  • Ability to function effectively and independently in a fast-paced environment subject to external pressure and frequent interruptions.
  • Ability to navigate electronic systems (Microsoft Office products, Adobe, grant submission websites) in a near-paperless environment.

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Experience in grants or research administration in a university setting, private research institution, hospital system, or government agency.
  • Knowledge of grant or contract programs and processes.
  • Experience working with diverse individuals and teams.
