What You’ll DoResearch & Identify Opportunities
  • Research foundations, corporations, community foundations, government programs, and other potential funding sources.
  • Identify local, regional, statewide, and national opportunities.
  • Look beyond open grants to identify funders worth cultivating for future opportunities.
  • Explore funding related to PB414’s programs, operations, expansion, capacity building, and community impact.

  • Research funders’ giving history and typical awards.
  • Evaluate how well opportunities align with PB414’s mission, needs, and strategic priorities.
  • Distinguish between opportunities that simply exist and those that are genuinely worth pursuing.
  • Make recommendations based on your research.
Build the Grant Pipeline
  • Create and maintain an organized pipeline of current and prospective funding opportunities.
  • Track key information, deadlines, status, and priority level.
  • Provide concise summaries of high-potential opportunities and explain why they may or may not be a good fit.
  • Help develop tools, processes, and documentation that make grant research more effective and sustainable.

As you gain experience, you’ll take increasing ownership of research priorities and projects rather than simply completing assigned tasks.
