This position supports The Mercy Touch® by leading grant-related activity throughout Mercy Medical Center that generates revenue for hospital needs, priorities and long-term success.Job Description
Job Duties
- Keep informed of the funding needs and priorities of the organization.
- Identify and research private, family, corporate and government grant opportunities.
- Work with service lines and leadership to ensure grant opportunities are a good fit for Mercy and align with the strategic direction of the hospital prior to application.
- Write, edit and submit highly compelling letters of intent (LOIs) and grant proposals including project descriptions, case statements, budgets, budget justifications, metrics and evaluation plans.
- Collaborate with service lines, finance, other Mercy departments and external interests to obtain requested grant information.
- Facilitate internal review processes prior to submission and obtain any necessary signatures.
- Manage the timely execution of grant contracts.
- Collaborate with service lines and finance to track metrics and expenditures and submit accurate, timely impact reports and financial documentation.
- Track grant application and reporting due dates to ensure 100% compliance with deadlines.
- Manage grantor relationships while representing the organization in a professional manner.
- Continuously assess and refine internal grant processes to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
- Assist with other tasks, team functions and additional duties as needed/assigned.
- Participate in planning, team-building and professional development activities as requested.
- Maintain confidentiality as it relates to job functions.
- Follows Mercy's safety guidelines, carries out job-specific safety duties and responsibilities, and promptly reports any unsafe conditions, situations, incidents and injuries.

- Demonstrated success securing grants.
- Excellent writing and editing skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and research skills.
- Understanding of budgets.
- Strong organizational and project/time management skills with ability to prioritize and manage a large workload, multi-task and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent teamwork, internal/external customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with Microsoft Office suite.
- Understanding and appreciation for the mission of Mercy Medical Center and the Mercy Foundation.
Professional Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in grant writing and management required.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field required.
