Primary Objective: Originate quality grain annually from producers utilizing risk management tools to create revenue by purchasing grain at the least cost in a timely manner.
Major Accountabilities:
The following duties are typical for this job. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive.
60% of time dedicated to:
- Procuring grain for direct ship markets, Pine Lake Ethanol, and IAS grain elevators..
- Develop a business relationship with the current network of customers and suppliers.
- Growing market share through increased farmer interaction and adding new grain customers.
- Utilize a grain procurement strategy that creates producer loyalty while meeting company objectives using futures and options along with cash contracts.
30% of time dedicated to:
- Supporting grain accounting duties, grain settlements, contracts, customer reports and daily activity reports.
- Collaborating with IAS grain personnel to communicate current market structure and values while educating about grain policies and programs.
10% of time dedicated to:
- Coordinating efficient daily grain logistics for the western grain region and FOB off-farm loadings.
- As an IAS-licensed facility, coordinate with the IAS warehouseman to maximize the utilization of market carries and grain logistics.
- On farm procurement calls.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Experience in grain origination preferred.
- Solid understanding of grain marketing, logistics, and marketing programs.
- Display a high level of initiative, effort, and commitment towards completing assignments efficiently.
- Ability to communicate information or ideas effectively in written or oral form.
- Ability to organize, deal with change effectively, and work on multiple tasks concurrently.
- Strong interpersonal skills and work ethic.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment.
- Post-secondary education or equivalent of education and experience.
Physical Requirements/Environmental Adaptability:
Requires static strength to lift, push, pull, or, on occasion, carry objects with a minimum weight of 50 pounds. Also flexibility to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with your body, arms, and/or legs. Some tasks involve repetitive motion.
Agricultural Environment – Possible exposure to seasonal weather, outdoor conditions, and agriculture products.
