Vanderlande is exploring the development of a test bench
for IEx motors within the Conveying WS stream. The proposed system aims to standardize the testing of our drives, potentially saving time on future parameter settings and allowing for the reproduction of bugs using data from
customer sites. You will design and implement a motor test bench capable
of simulating various load profiles for different types of motors. This test bench will be used to standardize drive testing and assist in the tuning of parameter files.
Department
You will be part of the Conveying WS team, within the Research & Development (R&D) department of Vanderlande. The Conveying WS team is responsible for the development of new products and maintaining existing portfolio of material handling systems for the Warehouse, Parcel & Postal market. The Conveying WS team counts about 30 people and
consists of product owners, architecture, integration-, mechanical-, electrical- and PLC-engineers. The student will be part of the team and report via the mentor to the team members.
Your responsibilities
•Literature Review: Conduct a review of existing motor test benches and servo drive systems
• System Design: Collaborate with the Innovation Centre and Engineering team to design a test bench that can simulate different load profiles
• Implementation: Build and configure the test bench, ensuring compatibility with our drive trains (75Drive/200Drive/75 low drive) and motors
• Testing & Validation: Develop test cases and validate the test bench against real-world scenarios
• Data Analysis: Analyse test results to identify critical errors and provide feedback for system improvement
• Documentation: Document the design, implementation, and testing process for future reference

- Programming knowledge
- Affinity with designing and construction (of test setups)
- Knowledge of motor control and drive systems
- Proficiency in data analysis and interpretation
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Mandatory enrolment in a Dutch Education System and resident of The Netherlands*
