About the team and the role:
As part of the expansion of eBay's engineering hub in Germany, we're growing our Global Shipping team in our Dreilinden office near Berlin. Millions of people use eBay every day to sell and ship items, and our team builds the shipping experiences that help individual sellers and small businesses meet the evolving expectations of online buyers around the world.
As a Junior Full Stack Engineer, you will help design and build modern shipping products used by millions of customers. Working with Java, Spring Boot, and modern frontend technologies, you'll contribute to the technical roadmap, collaborate closely with product managers and engineers, and help deliver scalable, reliable solutions. You will report to an Engineering Manager and work alongside the broader engineering team within our growing Germany hub. This is an opportunity to join a collaborative, transparent, and highly technical team that values curiosity and continuous learning.
What you will accomplish:
- Design and deliver scalable, secure, and maintainable full stack solutions that support shipping experiences for millions of eBay users.
- Translate product requirements into cross-component technical solutions, contributing to architecture, design documentation, and implementation plans.
- Build and enhance backend services using Java and Spring Boot, and develop frontend applications using React.js or similar frameworks.
- Collaborate with product managers and engineering partners to deliver high-quality features, improvements, and technical solutions.
- Improve software quality through clean, well-documented code, code reviews, and comprehensive unit, integration, and end-to-end testing.
- Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks and system issues to improve application reliability and user experience.
- Contribute to technical planning by breaking work into meaningful milestones and providing implementation estimates.
What you will bring:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
- Recent Graduates (Bachelor or Master Degree); graduated between summer 2025 and 2026
- Experience with or familiarity with Java and Spring Boot for backend application development.
- Experience with or familiarity with RESTful APIs and microservices architectures.
- Proficiency working with relational and/or NoSQL databases.
- Understanding of modern frontend frameworks such as React.js.
- Experience using Git, CI/CD pipelines, Agile development practices, and unit, integration, and end-to-end testing.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools (such as GitHub Copilot or Claude Code) for code generation, validation, and troubleshooting. Experience with Kotlin and Prometheus Query Language is a plus.
Work location: eBay employees are expected to work from the Dreilinden office, near Berlin, an average of three days per week.
