As a Graduate SOC Analyst, you'll kick-start your cybersecurity career in a collaborative and supportive environment where learning is part of every day. With a foundational understanding of IT and/or security, you'll gain hands-on experience monitoring security events, investigating alerts, and performing initial threat triage to help protect Civica's digital assets.

You'll work closely with experienced security professionals, building your knowledge of security operations, threat detection, and incident response while developing a deep understanding of our IT landscape. You'll have the opportunity to research security threats, document findings, and contribute to remediation activities that strengthen our overall security posture.

Requirements

Your Key responsibilities include:

  • Security Event Monitoring: Continuously monitor security events using various tools and technologies to identify potential security threats.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other members of the SOC team and various departments to ensure effective incident management and resolution.
  • Learning: Use training tools such as Cybrary and Microsoft Courses to strengthen knowledge for event and incident investigations.
  • Initial Triage: With assistance from the team, perform initial triage of security events to determine their severity and impact and/or access Incident Information and liaise with the affected area to capture all relevant incident information
  • Incident Escalation: Follow established procedures to escalate security incidents to the appropriate teams or individuals
  • Incident Analysis: Analyse and respond to security incidents, including identifying the root cause and potential impact.
  • Threat & Weakness Monitoring: Identify issues from our attack surface tools that could undermine the security of Civica. Analyse, research best practices and work closely with business areas to correct those issues.
  • Documentation: Maintain issues trackers including the documentation of findings, actions, and remediation efforts for security incidents and events.
  • Remediation Suggestions: Suggest and implement remediation measures to address identified security vulnerabilities and incidents.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify alert improvements and log them on an engineering register. Stay current with emerging cybersecurity trends and technologies to enhance the organization's security monitoring capabilities.

  • Self-motivated: Able to set personal training and development goals to continually improve themselves and the systems and services they operate with.

  • Education: Can demonstrate relevant higher education studies within Technology, Cyber, Programming, AI etc.
  • Technical Proficiency: An understanding of networks, applications and security controls
  • Certifications: Security or technical certifications are desirable.
  • Experience: Studying security as part of an established course
