How You’ll Make a Difference (Essential Functions)

The Nurse Graduate position is designed to be a component of a formal orientation for any newly graduated nurse that has not yet taken the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN). This specific clinical orientation provides the opportunity for a well-balanced transition to the role of a registered nurse. Through an environment committed to mentoring, coaching and learning, the Nurse Graduate will build confidence through a structured professional transition-into-practice experience that is tailored to individual needs.


Key Responsibilities (have not taken NCLEX)

  • Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), provide continual assessment of the patient and family’s physical, psychosocial and spiritual needs.
    • Collect, utilize and document data from patient/family assessments including data collected by other members of the interdisciplinary team (IDT).
    • Assess the patient/family as required and needed.
    • Articulate, identify, and report signs and symptoms of client abuse and/or neglect, suicide ideation or violence.
  • Under the direct supervision of an RN, develop and implement a plan for improvement of patient symptoms.
    • Assess pain and symptoms and identify appropriate interventions including medications, durable medical equipment, supplies, complimentary therapies, etc.
    • Collaborate with patient, physician, and appropriate members of the IDT to develop a plan of care (POC) to manage pain and symptoms.
    • Educate patient/family on pain and symptom management
    • Evaluate and document effectiveness of interventions in the POC (i.e., medication change).
  • Under the direct supervision of an RN, develop and document effective care planning in collaboration with the IDT and patients and families.
    • Use critical thinking skills to formulate, implement, and revise individualized POC.
    • Evaluate learning needs, provide education to patient/family and evaluate for effectiveness.
    • Respond to a change in patient/family needs that requires an acute inpatient admission.
  • Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), delegate and supervise nursing care assignments.
    • Delegate any applicable assignment for patients requiring LPN/CNA care.
    • If applicable, document supervision of LPN/CNA per guidelines.
  • Miscellaneous
    • Adjust hours as needed to meet changes in orientation schedule.
    • Participate in mandatory educational requirements.

You Bring (Qualifications)

  • Associate degree of Nursing from an accredited school of professional nursing.
  • Valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and access to a reliable vehicle (For driving positions only: Homecare and Admissions)
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
