About the role

Kick-start your in-house legal career at FUJIFILM Business Innovation, working alongside experienced counsel on high-impact matters that support our business across the region.

Reporting to the Legal Counsel, the position of Graduate Legal Counsel will be responsible for providing legal support to the Legal team while delivering expert legal advice to the wider business and ensuring legal risks are assessed and appropriate minimized.  This position is ideally suited for someone with a can-do and customer focused attitude, demonstrated through a proactive and  pragmatic mindset with the ability to apply sound commercial judgement by providing pragmatic legal advice which balances legal risk with practical business outcomes.  The candidate must have the ability to operate with a degree of autonomy, however they can always draw upon the skills and knowledge of the rest of the Legal team. 

Other duties include:

  • Negotiating and drafting customer and supplier contracts
  • In-house litigation management and dispute resolution assistance 
  • Contract analysis and reporting
  • Troubleshooting legal and commercial issues to ensure speedy resolution 
  • Ensuring legislative developments are regularly reviewed and contracts updated accordingly 
  • Policy drafting, revision, implementation and ongoing management
  • Advising on company compliance and regulatory obligations 

Skills & experience

Ideally you will have strong practical experience across a broad spectrum of legal matters preferably in a private practice or in-house environment. Along with this, you will also have:

  • Bachelor of Laws (LLB) 
  • Current NZ practicing certificate (or the ability to hold one)
  • Minimum of 1 year’s PQE
  • Knowledge of key legislation and regulations around corporate governance, health and safety, employment and privacy are preferred
  • Understanding of basic accounting principles and commercially sound acumen 
  • Excellent communication and drafting skills

Skills Required

  • Bachelor of Laws (LLB)
  • Current New Zealand practising certificate or ability to hold one
  • Minimum of 1 year's post-qualification experience (PQE)
  • Right to work in New Zealand
  • Excellent communication and drafting skills
  • Understanding of basic accounting principles and commercial acumen
  • Knowledge of corporate governance, health & safety, employment and privacy legislation
