Job Summary

As an Engineer in ConocoPhillips’ Exploration and Production America’s Business Unit, you would initially be enrolled in one of our two field-based rotational programs. The Accelerate Rotational Program consists of four, 3-month rotations through various engineering disciplines such as Drilling, Completions, Production/Facilities Operations and Reservoir Engineering. Upon completion of the program, the engineer will be assigned an engineering role in one of the business units. Based upon your qualifications and area of specialization, you may be responsible for:
• Supporting daily operations
• Developing and implementing field optimization strategies.
• Ensuring designs align with industry standards and codes.[TB1.1]
• Generating design basis, procedures, cost estimates and schedules for well workovers, recompletions and new wells.
• Designing and optimizing artificial lift systems.
• Trouble-shooting and optimizing facilities.
• Designing and constructing new facilities
• Providing basic process support.
• Coordinating risk assessments, HAZOP reviews and MOCs.
• Developing the automation, instrumentation and electrical portions of project engineering design packages.
• Developing and maintaining PLC/software configuration standards
• Planning well locations, quantifying anticipated reserves, analyzing well logs and booking corporate reserves
• Performing reservoir studies; conducting analysis of secondary recovery projects, completing reserve determinations and well test analysis
• Developing integrated models and using data analytics for optimization
• Developing reservoir models, forecasting production
After completion of the field based rotational program, assignments will typically be at one of our sites located in Dickinson, North Dakota; Watford City, North Dakota; Kenedy, Texas; Houston, Texas; Midland, Texas; Carlsbad, New Mexico; Loving, New Mexico; or Anchorage, Alaska.

Position Overview

Basic/Required:

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer and/or education institution
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering or foreign equivalent
  • Current level in college: Senior or Graduate Student
  • Expected graduation date: Fall 2026 or Spring/Summer 2027

Preferred:

  • Willing to work in any of these locations: Houston, Texas; Kenedy, Texas; Midland, Texas; Dickinson, North Dakota; Watford City, North Dakota; Carlsbad, New Mexico; Loving, New Mexico; or Anchorage, Alaska
  • A minimum cumulative and major GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
  • Previous internships or co-ops in an energy related field
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Builds positive relationships based on trust and seeks collaboration across organizational boundaries to achieve goals
  • Takes ownership of actions and follows through on commitments by holding others accountable and standing up for what’s right
  • Understands how key financial and quantitative indicators impact the business
