Ivy is building the world’s first programmable bank. We know the bank of the future is going to be fully regulated and stablecoin-native. We believe that the crypto folks are too afraid of full bank charters, while the bank folks know too little about crypto to pull it off. We believe there’s a trillion-dollar opportunity to launch regulated banks built on the blockchain.
Today, we bank the world’s leading crypto platforms (Kraken). Tomorrow, our platform will power global correspondent banking. And who's going to bank all these AI agents? We are certain that if we get this right, Ivy is going to be Europe’s first $1T company.
We are a team of ex-founders, early employees at unicorns, and top-tier talent from fintech and banking, and we are backed by the world’s best fintech investors:
Valar - Peter Thiel and the Valar team have been thinking about global money since PayPal times.
Creandum - Previously invested in fintechs like Klarna, Trade Republic, Pleo, and iZettle
10+ unicorn founders
From day one, you own real parts of our core banking infrastructure. No shadow work, no sandbox projects, no training wheels.
You'll design, build, and ship production systems that handle high-value financial flows at global scale. APIs, transaction processing, client integrations - you work on the same codebase and the same problems as the senior engineers around you. You learn by doing things that matter.
You'll join a small, senior team that trusts you with real responsibility and real decisions. You move fast, write clean code, and build systems that are simple, robust, and built to last. You grow faster here than anywhere else because everything you ship is real.
Team MissionYou're part of the product engineering team. You’re building the Programmable Bank - a bank for the new age of money movement, built around Digital Assets and AI. Your team builds the banking core across bare metals central bank infrastructure and blockchain infrastructure. We are building rather a “swiss clock” than new foundational research, your job is precision engineering to make a complex system work in a simplistic and highly reliable way.
Your First Six Months At IvyUnderstand the codebase and increase your ownership rapidly:
Month 1-2: You ramp up fast. Understand the codebase, the domain, the product and ship meaningful code in your first weeks. Pick up your first project and start driving it. You're pairing with senior engineers but operating independently early.
Month 3-4: You've shipped your first big project end to end. You know the domain well enough to ask the right questions and challenge assumptions when something doesn't make sense. You're starting to develop opinions on technical direction - how we model data, how we handle edge cases, where we take shortcuts and where we don't.
Month 5-6: You're trusted with hard problems and driving projects autonomously. You have growing opinions on how the core banking systems should evolve and you're acting on them. The team treats you like an engineer - not a graduate.
Who Will Thrive In This RoleWe believe that throwing smart people with high agency at big problems produces the best outcomes. In the past, we have seen people succeed at Ivy with the following traits ranked by importance:
Safe Hands: You can run on your own and finish the job no matter what comes in your way.
Communication: You are proactively going to the whole company and make sure you get the context without getting prompted to do so.
Curiosity: You need to be super curious about all aspects of the business and dig deep to understand every use case to apply data effectively.
System Thinking: You can design and build systems from scratch.
Smartness: You are generally just very smart and can pick up new things quickly.
You want your first job to feel like it matters - production systems, real users, real stakes
You'd rather learn by shipping alongside senior engineers than sitting through a 6-month rotation program
You're the kind of person who's already built things before anyone asked you to
You'd rather own the whole problem than have a narrow lane
You're looking for a structured graduate program with training wheels
You need a well-defined scope handed to you on day one
You prefer working in isolation and shipping quietly
You need a large team around you to be effective
You're not comfortable working under banking-grade regulatory scrutiny
A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field from a top university
Strong programming fundamentals and evidence you’ve shipped real software
Proficiency in TypeScript and Node.js, with an emphasis on simple, effective code
Demonstrated initiative: side projects, open-source, internships, or independent work
