We perform research, mathematical modeling, software development and design to manage risks to life safety in military platforms and installations, ships and submarines, critical infrastructure, tall buildings, public facilities, industrial and petrochemical plants and automotive and airborne vehicles. Military, government, corporate and academic clients’ value the validation of Applied Science’s software and the critical insights gained from correlating analysis with testing.

The Role

We have an exciting opportunity for Engineers to join our Applied Science team in Perth, Australia. Our team combines deep technical expertise with innovative thinking to deliver bespoke engineering solutions for complex industry challenges.

Our clients include Oil & Gas and petrochemical operators, EPCM contractors, specialized consultants, and industry bodies. As a client-facing business, our projects provide early exposure to direct client engagement, allowing you to develop strong commercial and communication skills alongside your technical capabilities.

You will work on challenging and technically diverse projects, collaborate with experts across our global business, and grow your career within a highly supportive and intellectually stimulating environment. 

This role offers exposure to complex real-world engineering problems and the opportunity to contribute to solutions that directly impact major industrial and energy projects.

What You’ll Do

Responsibilities will vary depending on your experience, technical background, and current project requirements, but the role may involve supporting projects across a range of disciplines including:

  • Structural dynamics

  • Technical safety

  • Thermo-fluids

  • Risk and hazard assessment

Recent project work has included:

  • Fire load response analysis

  • Blast analysis and design for critical infrastructure

  • Hydrocarbon fire modelling for offshore facilities

  • Advanced fluid flow modelling for process facilities

  • Seismic assessment and design

  • Qualitative and quantitative risk assessments

  • Safety Case support

What You Will Bring

  • Candidates must hold, at minimum, a bachelor's degree, in engineering, physics, or applied Mathematics

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills

  • Programming experience and knowledge of statistical techniques would be advantageous.

  • We are looking for individuals who are eager to learn, open-minded in their approach to problem solving, and motivated by solving new and interesting engineering challenges

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
