At io consulting, the projects you work on today will help shape the world of tomorrow. Energy projects can take years to develop and operate for decades, so the impact of your work will last well beyond your own career.
We are passionate about solving complex challenges– selecting the right projects, applying the best technologies, cutting emissions, and protecting value. As a graduate, you’ll play a real part in tackling these challenges and driving meaningful change, while building your career in an exciting and purposeful industry.
Who we are looking for
We are looking for an individual to join our team to help our clients navigate through the changes and challenges of energy projects. You will help to conceptualise multi-million-to-billion-dollar energy projects in the earliest stages of planning- from project inception to front end engineering. You will learn how to tackle the big engineering, design and investment decisions that have a cascading impact through a project’s lifecycle.
You will become a skilled engineering consultant, working in a team to steer projects in the right direction. We’ll guide your development into the role that aligns with your abilities and goals. It’ll be challenging, it’ll be rewarding, you can shape your future at io and you can transform some major projects along the way.
We are looking for a Chemical Engineering graduate who is eligible to work in the UK and who intends to work towards Chartered Engineer status, in our qualified ACTS scheme. We want an individual who is eager to learn and contribute.
What you will be doing
As part of our growing, close-knit team, you’ll collaborate with colleagues across the business- from the management team to engineers, advisors, and project leads. Through our ACTS scheme, we’ll support you on your journey to professional chartership, with clear competencies to guide your development. You’ll also benefit from a dedicated mentor and a graduate buddy system, ensuring you have the guidance and support you need to grow. Alongside this, you’ll have access to structured training and development opportunities to help you build your skills and confidence.
Day to day, you’ll learn directly from our specialists in areas such as process and project development engineering, advanced simulation, flow assurance, technical safety, environmental and social analysis, economics, commercial analysis, and business development. You’ll contribute to winning work, facilitating workshops, running process simulations, informing cost estimation and supporting study managers with project controls. You will play a role in every stage of the process design workflow, gaining the breadth of experience you need to build a strong foundation for your career.
What type of company you’ll join
io consulting (io) is a joint venture between Baker Hughes and McDermott, operating with independent governance and our own ISO 9001:2015-certified Business Management Systems. We’ve built a culture that is collaborative, innovative, agile, and delivery-focused, with our clients’ needs always at the centre. While we leverage the strengths of our parent companies, our solutions are entirely our own – ensuring designs that are not only optimised, but practical and deliverable.
Our company is large enough to offer certainty and breadth, yet small enough to give you visibility, responsibility, and impact from day one. At io, you won’t be just another cog in the wheel. Instead, you’ll have the chance to apply your MEng Chemical Engineering degree in practice while developing as a multi-disciplined consultant.
Where you’ll be located
The role will be based in London with hybrid working.
