GPSC Material Performance is responsible for managing the commercial and technical budget and forecasting process with GM purchasing. This role includes a high level of visibility and is expected to work collaboratively with multiple internal stakeholders and peers across GM purchasing, GPSC finance, PPCO, VCE, Supplier Financial Risk Management (SFRM), technical accounting, and GM legal. Driving transparency and accountability into commercial savings objectives is a critical part of this role, as well as working with other finance analyst assigned to a specific SMT.

As a Member of the Team, You Will:
  • Act as the program manager for an assigned SMT: Closely partnering with GM purchasing and the cross functional finance team (PPCO, controllership, treasury, legal, tax and customs) to verify budgets and forecasts are accurate.
  • Communicate daily with purchasing leadership - build a deep relationship with the assigned SMT business planner and supporting CT budget leaders. Frequent interaction and visibility to the GPSC Finance CFO as well as the assigned purchasing SMT Commodity Executive Director and supporting purchasing leadership team. Must be able to communicate effectively from buyers / analysts / engineers to executive leadership within purchasing and finance (and the broad supporting team in between).
  • Provide strong financial control over GM spend and continuous monitoring of GM commitment with dynamic long term volume forecast
  • Closely work with the PPCO cost engineering team and PPCO value chain engineering team to communicate, understand, and support GM's should cost for both supplier commercial / technical claims and supplier commercial / technical opportunities.
  • Analyze and submit monthly forecasted material cost changes. Aid in month end reporting responsibilities.
  • Analyze material cost trends at the vehicle level and proactively work to identify risks and opportunities to the forecast.
  • Prepare analysis and charts, as needed, to support GPSC Finance and Operational leadership reviews.
  • Prepare, participate and support cross-functional special studies as required.
  • Act as an informal supervisor (leader among peers) to the team as needed / required.

Qualifications
  • 5+ years of operating finance experience (or equivalent) is required.
  • A bachelor's degree in business, finance, economics or engineering. MBA or MS Finance preferred but not required.
  • Strong analytical skills. Fundamental knowledge of financial reporting and analysis
  • Familiarity with cost bucketing - labor, burden, material, SG&A, profit.
  • Familiarity with basic managerial accounting principles
  • Critical thinking, inquisitive mind and strong learning agility
  • Ability to analyze and synthesize complex issues and data in order to provide insight and understand how metrics drive the right business decisions
  • Advanced Excel skills coupled with strong modeling skills
  • Can provide accurate, timely and reliable reporting
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Structure presentations in straightforward, efficient manner that tells a story
  • Communicate key issues for action/decision ("the 30 second rule")
  • Comfortable in presenting data to various levels of the organization

Location: Hybrid. This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the - Global HQ Warren MI three times per week, at minimum [or other frequency dictated by the business]
