Government Relations & Public Policy Manager supports the development and implementation of strategies to influence global regulatory and public policy formulation related to Internet governance, DNS management, cyber security, data privacy, cross border data flows, and other Internet related topics. The position contributes to Verisign’s understanding of the priorities of the European Union and governments across Europe and the United Kingdom and participates in development of company positions. The Manager identifies risks and opportunities for the company stemming from regulatory initiatives and multilateral fora. The position focuses on the role of governments in the global governance and regulation of DNS infrastructure providers and domain name registries. Additionally this role represents the organization's collaboratively developed interests in industry groups, trade associations and with national and international governmental and non-governmental entities.
- Makes Verisign’s views known to legislators, government regulators, and multilateral and multistakeholder as directed. Ensures appropriate company participation in government forums and industry group meetings. Actively engages international and regional organizations and processes.
- Supports company’s issue management efforts through close coordination with company subject matter experts, aligned industry representatives and active utilization of association memberships; ensures that Verisign’s policy priorities are effectively included in these associations’ advocacy efforts.
- Gathers intelligence, analyzes global regulatory and policy issues impacting the company, anticipates regulatory trends, and develops strategy internally in coordination across the company’s policy assets to ensure the company is prepared to face and overcome regulatory barriers and challenges. Provides policy support for the internal teams.
- Prepares policy briefings, reports and analysis on relevant regulatory, multistakeholder, policy, international and industry developments with potential impact on company interests.
Job Qualifications:
- 4 Year / bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience with Public Policy,
- 5 years related experiences in Regulatory Affairs, or Internet Governance Experience in Engagement with European governments and regulators, the EU and international organizations
Needed Skills:
- Legislative strategy and analysis,
- Strategic communications, collaboration and data analysis,
- Executive level presentation skills, executive reporting, partnership development, driving consensus, creative problem solving, strategic event participation planning, networking, policy building/planning and public speaking,
