The ideal candidate is well‑networked in the public sector and able to represent the organization effectively with officials at all levels.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain professional, transparent working relationships with relevant officials to support timely and predictable processing of company matters
  • Represent the company at industry association meetings, government consultations, and relevant public-sector forums
Permits, Licensing & Compliance
  • Manage end-to-end coordination of permits, licenses, and regulatory approvals required for company operations (import/export permits, environmental permits, factory licenses, etc.)
  • Track regulatory deadlines and renewal requirements, working closely with the compliance team
  • Prepare and coordinate formal submissions, applications, and correspondence to government bodies
Trade Facilitation
  • Support the commercial and logistics teams on customs-related matters, including import documentation and duty/tariff queries
  • Help resolve operational bottlenecks at ports, customs, and other regulatory checkpoints through proper institutional channels
Policy Monitoring & Advisory
  • Monitor relevant policy, legal, and regulatory developments (trade policy, industrial policy, tax changes, local content requirements, etc.) that may affect the business
  • Brief senior management on regulatory risks and opportunities
  • Represent company interests in industry body discussions on policy matters affecting the steel sector
Stakeholder & Community Relations
  • Support engagement with local community leaders and district authorities near company operations
  • Assist management in navigating formal protocol for government visits, inspections, and official engagements.

Requirements
  • Minimum 5–8 years of experience in government relations, public affairs, regulatory compliance, or a related field — prior experience in a corporate, industrial, or trade-focused role strongly preferred
  • Strong existing network and credibility within Ghana's public sector institutions
  • Prior experience working with or within government ministries, regulatory bodies, or industry associations is a strong advantage
  • Excellent understanding of Ghanaian administrative and regulatory processes (customs, trade, environmental, labor)
  • High level of professionalism, discretion, and integrity — this role requires representing the company's reputation in sensitive settings
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to prepare formal correspondence and submissions
