Corporate Governance & Compliance

  • Support the Country MD in maintaining sound corporate governance practices in line with Zoomlion Group policies, Kenyan company law, and applicable regulatory frameworks.

  • Maintain and update the company's statutory registers, board resolutions, compliance calendars, and corporate secretarial records.

  • Monitor changes in Kenyan legislation and regulation relevant to waste management, environment, and company operations; advise management on compliance implications.

  • Coordinate the preparation and submission of statutory returns, regulatory filings, and compliance reports to relevant authorities (CAK, NEMA, County Governments, Business Registration Service, etc.).

  • Support the preparation of board and management meeting materials including agendas, board packs, and minutes; ensure resolutions are properly recorded and implemented.

  • Liaise with external legal counsel on contract reviews, regulatory matters, and compliance issues.

Government & Regulatory Relations

  • Serve as the primary liaison between Zoomlion Kenya and national and county government agencies, regulatory bodies, and public institutions.

  • Manage permit, licence, and approval processes including environmental licences, business permits, operational approvals, and contract renewals with county and national authorities.

  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with key government counterparts to facilitate smooth regulatory approvals and operational continuity.

  • Coordinate government engagement activities including site visits, meetings, and official inspections; prepare briefing materials and presentations for government engagements.

  • Monitor and report on policy and regulatory developments relevant to the waste management sector in Kenya.

Stakeholder & Community Engagement

  • Develop and implement a stakeholder engagement plan for Zoomlion Kenya's operations, covering government, community, civil society, and private sector stakeholders.

  • Manage community liaison activities at or near operational sites; address community concerns and complaints professionally and promptly.

  • Coordinate Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives and community engagement programmes in support of Zoomlion Kenya's social licence to operate.

  • Maintain a stakeholder register and track engagement activities and outcomes.

Communications & Public Relations

  • Develop and implement Zoomlion Kenya's communications strategy, covering internal communications, media relations, digital and social media, and public affairs.

  • Draft and disseminate press releases, media statements, speeches, presentations, and official correspondence on behalf of the Country MD and the organisation.

  • Manage relationships with media houses, journalists, and PR contacts; coordinate media engagements, interviews, and press briefings.

  • Oversee Zoomlion Kenya's social media presence and digital communications; ensure content is accurate, timely, and consistent with the Zoomlion Group brand.

  • Monitor media coverage of Zoomlion Kenya and the waste management sector; prepare media monitoring reports and advise management on reputational matters.

  • Coordinate internal communications to keep staff informed of organisational developments, policies, and activities.

Crisis & Reputation Management

  • Support the development and maintenance of a crisis communications plan for Zoomlion Kenya.

  • Coordinate the organisation's communications response during incidents, service disruptions, or reputational events.

  • Advise the Country MD on sensitive communications and stakeholder management matters.

Reporting & Documentation

  • Prepare monthly governance, compliance, and communications reports for the Country MD.

  • Maintain comprehensive records of all regulatory submissions, stakeholder engagements, government correspondence, and media interactions.

  • Support the preparation of quarterly and annual reports and other corporate publications.

  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Country Managing Director.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Law, Governance, Public Administration, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.

  • Postgraduate qualification in Corporate Governance, Communications, Public Policy, or a related discipline is an advantage.

  • Professional membership (e.g. ICPSK – Institute of Certified Public Secretaries of Kenya, PRSK – Public Relations Society of Kenya, LSK for legal practitioners) is preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum of 3–6 years of experience in a governance, corporate secretarial, communications, or public affairs role.

  • Experience managing regulatory compliance and government relations in Kenya is essential; familiarity with NEMA, county government structures, and business regulatory bodies is strongly preferred.

  • Proven track record in corporate communications, media relations, and stakeholder engagement.

  • Experience in the waste management, utilities, infrastructure, or public sector is an advantage.

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of Kenyan company law, regulatory frameworks, and environmental legislation relevant to waste management.

  • Proficiency in corporate communications tools — MS Office Suite, social media platforms, media monitoring tools.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; proficiency in Kiswahili is a strong advantage.

  • Experience with board management and corporate secretarial functions is an advantage.
