Job Description SummaryThe Executive – Sustainable Steam Solutions Engineering role is responsible for leading all engineering activities across GE Vernova’s Steam Turbine portfolio — including new unit design and delivery, services/aftermarket engineering, and new product introduction (NPI) — while also driving the development of industry-leading decarbonization solutions, such as carbon capture and low-carbon system integration technologies.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

In addition to direct engagement in the core activities of the Steam Turbine and Decarbonization Solutions Engineering organization described above, this role includes the following key areas of accountability:

Strategy & Technology Leadership

·       Define and execute engineering roadmaps for steam turbine new units, services, and new product introduction, as well as decarbonization solutions.

·       Develop technology strategies to improve turbine efficiency, reliability, and cost, while enabling integration with carbon capture and other low-carbon systems.

·       Champion adoption of advanced practices such as Model-Based Engineering 3.0 and AI-enabled workflows to improve quality and reduce cycle time.

Execution – Steam Turbines

·       Lead engineering execution for new-build steam turbine projects from concept through manufacturing, testing, and installation.

·       Oversee engineering support for the installed fleet, including upgrades, retrofits, reliability improvements, and field issue resolution.

·       Drive lessons learned from field experience back into design standards, digital twins, and next-generation product designs.

Execution – Decarbonization Solutions

·       Lead engineering development and readiness of carbon capture and related decarbonization technologies for commercial deployment.

·       Partner with customers, suppliers, and R&D organizations to co-develop, pilot, and validate new low-carbon solutions.

·       Protect intellectual property and establish technology differentiators to strengthen GE Vernova’s leadership in decarbonization.

Innovation – New Product Introduction

·       Integrate decarbonization technologies into next-generation steam turbine systems through NPI programs.

·       Accelerate innovation cycles across both steam turbine and carbon capture portfolios, leveraging digital tools, automation, and AI-driven design.

People & Culture

·       Lead a global engineering organization spanning internal hubs (U.S., Mexico, Switzerland) and third-party contractors.

·       Attract, develop, and retain early-career through principal and consulting engineers capable of solving the most complex technical challenges across steam turbines and decarbonization.

·       Build a high-performance, inclusive culture emphasizing safety, quality, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Stakeholder Engagement

·       Partner closely with product management, sourcing, manufacturing, field service, and product definition teams to ensure seamless lifecycle execution.

·       Represent the combined steam turbine and decarbonization engineering portfolio with customers, regulatory bodies, and senior leadership.

·       Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure technology readiness, commercial competitiveness, and flawless project delivery.

Qualifications / Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering-related discipline
  • At least 10 years of experience within Gas Power discipline
  • At least 5 years of people leadership experience

  • Accountable for ensuring all steam turbine and decarbonization systems perform and operate to meet contract, regulatory, and customer needs.
  • Defines and drives technology strategy that strengthen GE Vernova’s competitiveness in efficiency, reliability, and low-carbon operation.
  • Develop and execute global strategies in partnership with GE Vernova and customer leadership, ensuring alignment with Gas Power objectives.
  • Lead external facing representation of GE Vernova’s technical decarbonation strategy and opportunities to customers and external industry partners.
  • Leads engineering execution and technology integration across the steam turbine, condenser, HRSG, and carbon capture ecosystems.
  • Primary technology leader driving the positioning of the company as an industry leader in decarbonization-enabled thermal systems through sustained innovation and execution excellence.

  • Engages in complex, multi-disciplinary challenges across performance, operability, cost, and sustainability.
  • Balances competing objectives across product, project, and technology portfolios to optimize business outcomes.
  • Utilizes analytical rigor, systems engineering principles, and digital tools to separate causation from correlation and drive root-cause resolution.

Business Expertise

  • Broad and deep understanding of power plant systems and their integration with gas, steam, and low-carbon technologies.
  • Knowledge of global energy markets, regulatory drivers, and decarbonization pathways.
  • Interfaces internally across GE Vernova enterprise, including engineering, product management, and projects.  Leading external partnerships with suppliers, customers, and industry experts to deliver business value in decarbonization solutions.

Leadership

  • Inspires and influences globally distributed teams toward common goals of excellence, collaboration, and innovation.
  • Develops the next generation of Controlled Title Holders and Principal Engineers to sustain technical vitality.
  • Represents GE Vernova’s technical leadership externally through conferences, standards committees, and strategic partnerships.
  • Creates a culture of accountability, urgency, and continuous learning aligned to the company’s mission of “Electrify to thrive and decarbonize.”
