The Role
Fisher & Paykel is an iconic New Zealand brand, a global company with a strong local heritage. Our origins inspire our culture of curiosity and passion to develop solutions designed around people - these are some of the core elements that make us unique.
We are driven by our values of being trusted, sustainably minded, innovative, generous, and curious. As a team we take a collaborative approach and have a working environment where all ideas are heard, evaluated, and tested against our leading goal - to be the world's most human-centred appliance brand.
Ready to be the financial leader behind one of New Zealand's most iconic brands?
This is an outstanding opportunity for a commercially minded finance leader to play a pivotal role in shaping the future performance of Fisher & Paykel's New Zealand business.
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the General Manager Finance – New Zealand is responsible for leading the commercial finance, planning, forecasting, reporting and control functions supporting both our New Zealand Distributor and Customer Experience businesses. Acting as a trusted advisor to the Executive and senior leadership team, you will provide the financial insights, commercial guidance, and strategic perspective that enable better decision-making and sustainable growth.
This is far more than a traditional finance role. It is a highly visible leadership position that sits at the heart of the business, partnering across sales, product, marketing, customer experience, operations, and the wider global finance community to influence strategy, improve performance, and identify opportunities that strengthen our competitive position.
Located in our new office at Penrose, Auckland, you will lead a talented finance team while helping shape the commercial direction of one of New Zealand's most recognised and trusted brands.
Where you'll make your mark
As General Manager Finance, you will be responsible for providing the financial leadership and commercial insight that supports both day-to-day decision-making and long-term strategic planning. You will oversee financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, performance reporting, cash flow, working capital, pricing support, and financial governance, ensuring leaders have clear visibility of business performance and future opportunities.
Working closely with the New Zealand leadership team, you'll challenge thinking, provide independent commercial advice, and help translate complex financial information into practical actions that drive growth, profitability, and improved business performance. You’ll also engage directly with key customers and channel partners, supporting the sales team on terms of trade and margin decisions. Your ability to balance strategic thinking with operational execution will be critical as you identify risks, unlock opportunities, and support key commercial decisions across the business.
You will also lead the ongoing development of the finance function, building capability within your team while strengthening financial controls, reporting frameworks, and business partnering practices that support Fisher & Paykel's future ambitions.
Key responsibilities
Act as commercial challenger and cross-functional driver, providing the connective tissue that knits sales, product and ops together to deliver profitable growth and informed decision-making.
Lead the financial planning, forecasting, reporting, performance management, and control environment for the New Zealand Distributor and Customer Experience businesses.
Build and develop a high-performing finance team while strengthening financial governance, business partnering capability, and operational excellence across the function.
Who are you?
You are a commercially savvy finance executive who combines strong technical expertise with exceptional business partnering capability. You understand that great finance leaders do more than report the numbers—they influence decisions, challenge assumptions, identify opportunities, and help businesses perform at their best.
You enjoy operating in a fast-paced commercial environment and have a natural ability to build credibility with senior stakeholders. Equally comfortable in the boardroom and with operational leaders, you can simplify complexity, communicate with impact, and bring clarity to important business decisions.
You are a leader who develops people, fosters collaboration, and creates an environment where teams are empowered to perform and grow.
What we offer
We offer the opportunity to join a large, complex global organisation that is proudly headquartered in New Zealand; giving you broad exposure across an internationally operating business without leaving home.
Alongside a competitive salary and a hybrid working environment, you'll have access to real development pathways and meaningful progression opportunities. As part of our team, you'll also enjoy generous discounts on Fisher & Paykel and Haier products, life and disability insurance, subsidised medical cover, access to our industry-leading Whānau/Family leave policy, a subsidised on-site café, and complimentary parking when you're in the office.
All of this, supported by exceptional leadership and the credibility of a world-class heritage brand — one that continues to be recognised as one of New Zealand's most Trusted Brands, year after year.
