Global Translation Manager – Santa Ana, Costa Rica

In this role, you’ll oversee our internal translations team and manage the relationship with our external vendor partner. This critical role ensures the delivery of high-quality, timely, and cost-effective translation services across all global markets and all business functions.

Role Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing internal team of translators and localization specialists.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews, career development planning, and team-building activities.
  • Manage administrative tasks including time tracking, resource planning, and budget oversight.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for external translation vendors.
  • Ensure vendor performance aligns with contractual obligations, SLAs, and SOWs.
  • Monitor quality, turnaround times, and cost efficiency, drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Serve as the main liaison between the translations team and internal stakeholders across departments.
  • Gather and analyze business needs to develop a strategic localization roadmap.
  • Forecast translation needs and associated costs based on stakeholder input and business growth.
  • Oversee and optimize translation workflows, tools, and processes.
  • Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities and process improvements.
  • Resolve escalations and remove blockers for the internal team.

Role Requirements

  • Proven experience in localization or translation management, ideally in a global context.
  • Familiarity with translation management systems (TMS), CAT tools, and localization platforms.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills.
  • Experience managing vendor relationships and contracts.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Budgeting and cost forecasting experience is a plus.
  • Multilingual proficiency is a plus.
  • Strategic thinker with a hands-on approach.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
  • Passionate about language, culture, and global communication.
