Reporting to the Global Trade Director, the Global Trade Operations Manager leads the Global Trade Operations team to deliver specialist global trade advice and support to operational activities and growth opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor the Global Trade Operations team to support the implementation of the operational plan and ensure alignment with, and timely achievement of, goals and objectives.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to enhance and improve team performance and productivity.
  • Develop and manage policy and process improvement, system improvement, and enhanced use of technology.
  • Drive resource and personnel management activities to ensure effective resource utilisation in support of the operational plan and initiatives including the development and implementation of career roadmaps and competency frameworks, learning and development plans, mentoring activities, budget planning, and general management activities.
  • Deliver initiatives in accordance with agreed schedules, budgets, and resourcing.
  • Ensure the Global Trade Operations team’s objectives, policies, and practices align with stakeholder and business requirements.
  • Design, establish, and monitor performance metrics and prepare reports on the achievement of those metrics.
  • Facilitate lessons learned.
  • Ensuring a safe and healthy work environment is maintained for all team members.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification in business, commerce, law or related discipline are desirable but not mandatory.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing a dispersed team.
  • Extensive knowledge of global trade laws and regulations (i.e. U.S. Foreign Military Sales (FMS), International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), U.S. Export Administration Regulations (EAR), and the Australian Defence Trade Controls Act), including agency guidance and practice, export licensing requirements, and industry “best practices” for compliance.
  • Well-developed interpersonal, communication and writing skills.
  • Ability to develop and execute plans to support the achievement of compliance objectives.
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to appropriately prioritise multiple tasks and deadlines and follow through on all assigned tasks to ensure timely completion.
