Your role

Aptiv is seeking an experienced Corporate Trade Manager – Americas to join its Corporate Trade organization based in Boston.

The role is responsible for supporting and enhancing Aptiv's trade compliance program across North and South America, ensuring compliance with customs, export controls, sanctions, trade agreements, and other international trade regulations while enabling business growth and operational efficiency.

The successful candidate will serve as a trusted business partner to Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Engineering, Procurement, Finance, Legal, Government Affairs, and Commercial teams throughout the region. This role combines compliance leadership, operational support, strategic project management, and business enablement.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and support trade compliance activities across the Americas, including customs, export controls,

sanctions, and supply chain security programs.

• Partner with business leaders to identify opportunities to reduce risk, lower cost, improve supply chain

efficiency, and support strategic growth initiatives.

• Provide guidance on import/export requirements, customs valuation, country of origin, free trade agreements,

tariff mitigation, special trade programs, and export controls.

• Oversee classification activities, including HTS, ECCN, and country-of-origin determinations.

• Support and maintain regional trade compliance procedures, policies, controls, and governance processes.

• Drive trade compliance assessments, audits, investigations, corrective actions, and continuous improvement

initiatives.

• Support use and optimization of customs programs such as FTZs, duty drawback, bonded facilities,

IMMEX, temporary import programs, and free trade agreements.

• Manage relationships with customs brokers, freight forwarders, consultants, and relevant government

authorities.

• Support customs audits, regulatory inquiries, and trade-related litigation or investigations as required.

• Provide trade compliance support for new product launches, engineering projects, supply chain changes, acquisitions, and restructuring initiatives.

• Develop and deliver training to stakeholders across multiple functions and sites.

• Monitor regulatory developments and assess business impacts associated with changes in customs, export controls, sanctions, tariffs, and trade policy.

• Support digital transformation and automation initiatives within the Corporate Trade function

Your background:
 

• Minimum 6 years of experience in customs, export controls, international trade, logistics, supply chain, consulting, or related fields.

• Experience within a multinational manufacturing company, automotive supplier, technology company, consulting firm, or government environment.

• Strong understanding of U.S. customs regulations, export controls, sanctions, and free trade agreements.

• Experience supporting Mexico, and U.S. operations preferred.

• Experience with SAP, SAP GTS, broker management platforms, and trade compliance systems preferred.

• Strong project management and stakeholder management capabilities.

• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, global environment.

• Bachelor’s degree in business, International Trade, Supply Chain, Finance, Law, Engineering, or a related field.

• Customs, trade compliance, or supply chain certifications are a plus.
