JOB DESCRIPTION
Position Summary:
Reporting to the GTC Director, the Analyst’s primary function is to determine HTS classifications for parts, components, and finished products. The Analyst will determine the Harmonized System Tariff classification, and country of origin, as well as work with Segment Engineering and other departments and teams to ensure new products are classified correctly prior to production. The Analyst’s functions will also include compliance with applicable FTA (Free Trade Agreement) regulations and product qualification and monitoring. The Analyst will be part of the Global Trade Data Center of Expertise and will work closely with the GTC Trade Data Manager, Trade Data Analysts, Trade Operations Managers, and internal customers to provide training and reviews.
Major responsibilities include:
- Work with Segment Engineering teams and alike to identify new or changed products and determine the HTS classification
- Provide guidance to Segment Engineering teams and alike regarding the tariff impact of production options
- Work with Segment Sourcing teams to identify new or changed suppliers and determine the HTS classifications and countries of origin
- Collaborate to keep updated data in respective systems including GTM and ERP’s or other databases
- Analyze Bill of Materials (BOM) for FTA eligibility
- Ensure current USMCA, other FTA and Country of Origin data is maintained in available Customs systems in a timely and accurate manner
- Determine HTS classifications of components, raw materials, chemicals, spare parts kits, and finished goods
- Assist with HTS classifications of machinery, equipment, and tooling
- Perform other related duties as assigned by Supervisor
- Adhere to established policies and procedures

Required Education / Experience / Skills:
The Analyst’s must possess the following:
- 1-2 years HTS / Trade topics
- Engineering background acceptable
- Trade Compliance experience in Harmonized Tariff Classification, U.S. Customs Regulations, Section / Chapter Notes, explanatory notes, CROSS rulings and Certificates of Origin
- Clear understanding of HTS Classification process
- Clear understanding of FTA qualification process
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, have a good written/verbal command of English and Spanish
- Excellent organizational and follow-up skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines
- Excellent multi-tasking ability and handling varied projects
- Ability to work independently without daily oversight
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products; Word, PowerPoint and especially Excel
Travel: Ability to Travel 20% Languages: English
Desired Qualifications:
The following would enhance the performance of the Analyst’s
- BS or BA Engineering degree preferred
- Trade Compliance experience in Harmonized Tariff Classification, U.S. Customs Regulations, Section / Chapter Notes, explanatory notes, CROSS rulings and Certificates of Origin
- SAP, Oracle, Trade Automation, PRISMA experience
- BS or BA degree in International Trade or Logistics
- Experience writing ruling requests and ruling decisions
- Experience driving continuous improvement in processes and performance
- Ability to discuss complex issues with multiple team members to arrive at an agreement
