You’ll play a key role in solving real-world challenges. Tailings will be one of the main drivers of growth in the Minerals Division, contributing to more than 25% of revenue uplift over the strategic plan horizon. The Global Tailings Process Manager will be one of the key players in this, responsible for supporting the regional business development, sales and process teams to execute global growth strategy within the tailings portfolio. The Global Process Manager Tailings will support regional teams through both leadership and provision of Subject Matter Expertise in tailings solutions, both at the flow sheet development level, and at the minerals processing equipment level. You’ll work with purpose, learn every day and help shape a more sustainable future.

  • Strategic Leadership

Execute a comprehensive global business development strategy for the tailings portfolio, aligning with corporate goals and market opportunities to drive growth and innovation. 

  • Technical Expertise

Provide subject matter expertise in tailings solutions, including flow sheet development, equipment design, and process optimization, supporting regional sales and process teams daily. 

  • Innovation and Development

Lead and support technology scouting, assessment, and development of new tailings solutions, including dewatering, transportation, and deposition technologies. 

  • Collaboration and Integration

Work closely with comminution, separation, slurry transportation, and tailings solutions leads to deliver integrated flowsheet solutions that maximize customer value. 

  • Project and Opportunity Support

Support Greenfields and Brownfields sales opportunities with technical evaluations, concept development, and techno-economic assessments. 

  • Thought Leadership

Represent Weir at industry conferences, contribute to white papers, and drive internal innovation and IP generation in tailings solutions. 

  • Operational Support

Participate in site visits, field trials, piloting activities, and occasional site surveys to ensure practical application and continuous improvement of tailings processes. 

  • Safety First

Demonstrate 100% commitment to our zero harm behaviors in support of our drive towards developing a world-class safety culture.

What you’ll bring 

Must-haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline. 
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in tailings or related systems with deep knowledge of tailings solutions, equipment, and flow sheets. 
  • Proven leadership skills with experience managing technical teams and collaborating across functions. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with proficiency in advanced Microsoft Office and process engineering software.

Nice-to-haves: 

  • Master’s or PhD in Mechanical Engineering. 
  • Chartered registered engineer status. 
  • Experience in manufacturing and assembly processes related to tailings equipment. 
  • Familiarity with CRM tools such as Salesforce and data-driven decision-making. 
  • Demonstrated thought leadership and innovation in tailings technology and systems.
