The Global Corporate Social Media Director is responsible for leading the company's worldwide social media strategy, governance, content, publishing, engagement, and digital reputation management across all corporate channels. This executive will drive a best-in-class social media operation that strengthens the company's reputation, amplifies strategic priorities, supports business objectives, and engages stakeholders across global markets.

The role oversees corporate social media activities across multiple platforms and regions, ensuring consistent storytelling while adapting content and engagement strategies to local audiences. The Director serves as a strategic advisor to senior leadership, including the CEO and Executive Leadership Team, and plays a critical role in executive visibility, crisis communications, brand advocacy, and digital innovation.

Key ResponsibilitiesSocial Media Strategy & Governance
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive global corporate social media strategy aligned with the company's business, brand, and communications objectives.
  • Establish annual goals, performance metrics, and strategic priorities across all corporate social channels.
  • Oversee content creation (posts, videos, visuals, storytelling) across platforms
  • Build capabilities across regions and drive adoption of best practices throughout the organization.
  • Lead the evolution of the company's digital voice, content strategy, and audience engagement approach.
  • Identify emerging platforms, technologies, and trends to ensure continued leadership in digital communications.
  • Establish guidelines, governance rules, and best practices for all regions and brands
  • Ensure consistency of messaging and brand tone across all social platforms
  • Support executive communication and social positioning when relevant
  • Monitor and protect the company's digital reputation across global platforms
  • Lead social media response strategies during crises, issues, and high-profile events

 

Executive Communications & Thought Leadership

  • Provide social media strategy and content development for senior executives.
  • Build executive thought leadership programs that enhance visibility, credibility, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Partner closely with investor relations, brands, marketing and public affairs teams.
  • Strengthen engagement with employees, customers, investors, media, policymakers, industry influencers, and communities.
  • Develop strategies to build advocacy and increase positive sentiment among key stakeholder groups.

 

Performance Monitoring & Analytics
  • Establish a data-driven culture focused on measurable outcomes and continuous improvement.
  • Define KPIs and reporting frameworks to assess audience growth, engagement, sentiment, share of voice, executive visibility, and business impact.
  • Deliver regular insights and recommendations to senior leadership.

 

Innovation & Digital Transformation

  • Evaluate and implement emerging technologies, including AI-powered content creation, social listening, analytics, and engagement tools.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance efficiency, creativity, and audience impact.
  • Champion digital innovation across corporate communications.

  • Significant leadership experience within a global corporation, major brand, communications agency, or media organization.
  • Proven experience managing executive social media platforms and high-profile corporate reputations.
  • Preferred industry experience in automotive, mobility, technology, manufacturing, consumer brands, or other complex global industries.
  • Demonstrated success leading teams across multiple geographies and cultures.
  • Experience in an international or global environment
  • Fluency in English (additional languages are a plus)

Skills Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, Business or related field
  • Master's degree in a related field
  • 10+ years progressive experience in social media, digital communications, or corporate communications
  • Significant leadership experience within a global corporation, major brand, communications agency, or media organization
