TITLE: Senior Accountant, Revenue
DEPARTMENT: Accounting

REPORTING TO: Assistant Global Controller

OFFICE LOCATION: New York, US

Role Overview:

The Senior Accountant, Revenue will be responsible for assisting with creating and updating the process documentation related to the monthly revenue and cost of goods sold accounting, assisting with the update of the ASC 606, Revenue for Contracts with Customers policy and assisting in the standardization of revenue and cost of goods sold accounting globally. 

  • Assist with the implementation of the RMCS revenue module in Oracle Cloud for the purpose of automating revenue accounting. 
  • Understand the different processes used to record revenue in the three regions (North America, APAC and EMEA) and combine into one consistent global process that can be used for each 
  • Document the monthly accounting close process related to revenue accounting and cost of goods sold 
  • Oversee reconciliations related to Accounts Receivable, Deferred Revenue, and other revenue and COGS accounts to ensure accuracy and compliance 
  • Review the monthly analytics related to revenue and cost of goods sold and provide feedback to revenue accountants 
  • Continue to refine the monthly revenue accounting process to increase efficiencies, improve controls and reduce the close timeline. 
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards by maintaining adherence to relevant accounting standards and regulations in all revenue accounting activities 
  • Support audit processes by preparing and providing necessary documentation and support for internal and external audits 
  • Track and report on KPIs related to revenue accounting to measure performance and identify areas for improvement. 
  • Work closely with other departments, such as sales and operations, to ensure accurate revenue recognition and reporting.  
  • Assist with ad hoc projects and responsibilities as needed

  • By standardizing and automating revenue accounting processes across regions, the Senior Accountant will enhance efficiency and consistency, leading to more accurate and timely financial reporting. 
  • By implementing robust controls and ensuring compliance with accounting standards, this role will mitigate risks and enhance the integrity of financial data. 
  • Providing detailed analytics and feedback on revenue and cost of goods sold will help management make informed decisions, driving the company's financial strategy. 
  • Refining the monthly revenue accounting process will reduce the close timeline, allowing for quicker access to financial information and better responsiveness to business needs. 
  • Assisting with the implementation of the RMCS revenue module in Oracle Cloud will leverage technology to automate and streamline revenue accounting, reducing manual errors and increasing productivity. 
  • Working closely with other departments will ensure accurate revenue recognition and foster a collaborative environment, improving overall business operations. 

Essential Skills and Experience to be Successful in this Role:

  • Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in Accounting 
  • Minimum 4-5 years of relevant experience from public accounting and/or multinational company 
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of US GAAP and internal controls 
  • CPA is a strong plus 
  • Deep understanding of revenue recognition principles and standards, such as ASC 606 or IFRS 15. 
  • Proficiency in general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and financial reporting. 
  • Strong ability to analyze financial data, identify trends, and provide actionable insights. 
  • Ensuring accuracy in financial records, reconciliations, and documentation. 
  • Ability to identify inefficiencies and implement streamlined, standardized processes. 
  • Managing multiple tasks and projects effectively, including ad hoc responsibilities. 
  • Clear and effective communication to document processes and collaborate with teams across regions. 
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues and find solutions to improve accounting processes. 
  • Understanding of relevant accounting standards and regulations to ensure compliance. 
  • Working effectively with cross-functional teams, such as sales and operations, to ensure accurate revenue recognition. 
  • Flexibility to adapt to new systems, processes, and changing business needs. 

Desired Skills and Experience: 

  • Oracle Cloud experience preferable but not required 
  • Detail-oriented with demonstrated oral and written communication skills 
  • Strong multi-tasking skills and ability to adapt to change 
  • Strong Excel skills a plus 
  • Capability to think beyond day-to-day tasks and contribute to long-term financial planning and strategy. 
  • Proficiency in using advanced Excel functions and tools for data analysis and reporting. 
  • Experience in managing and facilitating change within an organization, especially during process improvements and system implementations. 
  • Understanding and navigating cultural differences, especially when working with teams across North America, APAC, and EMEA. 
  • Strong ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively to meet deadlines. 
  • Willingness to stay updated with the latest accounting trends, technologies, and regulations. 
  • Building strong working relationships with colleagues, stakeholders, and external partners.
