Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Insurance & Risk Intern to support our small Global Risk & Insurance team. The role provides exposure to corporate insurance programs, risk financing strategies, and operational risk processes within a multinational environment.
The intern will assist with insurance renewals, data analytics, risk reporting, and documentation management, gaining hands-on experience in how large organizations manage and transfer risk globally.

Our Treasury – Global Risk & Insurance function plays a critical role in protecting IFF’s people, assets, and operations worldwide through robust insurance programs, risk financing strategies, and enterprise risk management processes.

Duration: 6–12 months (maybe possibility for permanent role)
Location: Offices in El Vasco, Oviedo (parking available)
Format: Hybrid – 3 days on site / 2 days remote
Working hours: Flexible entry between 8:00–10:00 a.m. and exit between 5:00–7:00 p.m. (1‑hour lunch break)
Monthly allowance: €800 gross
Eligibility: Studied at the University of Oviedo and graduated from a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree within the last 4 years
Function: Treasury / Insurance & Risk Management
Reports to: Director, Risk & Insurance
Insurance Program Support:
Assist with annual insurance renewals (property, casualty, D&O, cyber, cargo, etc.)
Support data collection and validation for underwriting submissions
Help review insurance policies, schedules, and endorsements
Track certificates of insurance and liaise with internal stakeholders/brokers
Track insurance premium invoices to ensure timely payment
Risk Management & Analysis:
Support the development and maintenance of risk registers
Support the setting up & implementation of an Enterprise Risk Management platform
Assist in analyzing exposure data (e.g., property values, business interruption, supply chain)
Contribute to risk assessments and scenario analysis
Support various projects (e.g. captive/alternative risk financing initiatives)
Data & Reporting:
Prepare reports and dashboards (Excel / PowerPoint) for internal stakeholders
Assist with claims tracking and loss analysis
Support benchmarking and market research (insurance trends, limits, pricing)
Process and systems:
Work with contract/insurance platforms (e.g., Sirion, Insurer & broker portals)
Ensure insurance documentation is accurately maintained, organized and easily accessible
Assist in process improvement and documentation of internal procedures
What Makes You the Right Fit
Currently pursuing a degree in Finance, Risk Management, Insurance, Economics, Law, Business, or a related field
Strong analytical and numerical skills with high attention to detail
Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables and data analysis preferred)
Good working knowledge of PowerPoint for business presentations
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Excellent English language skills
Well-organized and comfortable working with large datasets and confidential information
Curious, proactive, and eager to learn about risk and insurance concepts
Basic understanding of insurance principles or corporate risk management
Exposure to corporate finance, legal, or risk environments
Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau
Exposure to global insurance programs and risk strategy
Hands-on experience with real underwriting data and claims analysis
Understanding of multinational insurance placement and regulatory considerations
Interaction with leading brokers, insurers, and internal stakeholders
Development of technical and commercial risk management skills
On the job training, supported by regular webinars on a range of risk and insurance topics
